All too often, a "magician" is an individual with a case full of self- working props and some memorized, unoriginal "patter". In stark contrast, magical entertainer MICHAEL THOMAS has dedicated the last 20 years to combining complex sleight- of- hand, stagecraft, psychology, and improvisational comedy into extraordinary magical experiences. A true "Renaissance Man" of magic, Michael brings a versatility to the art that few performers can match. - Holding a Master's Degree in Education, Michael is comfortable entertaining children of any age group. He has performed at literally hundreds of birthday parties, school programs, daycare centers, summer camps, scout functions, and "family fun nights". - A lifetime student of sleight- of- hand, Michael is capable of performing miracles with cards, coins, and other everyday objects. He has extensive experience performing in restaurants, bars, hospitality suites, and cocktail parties. - Since 2004, Michael has been a featured performer at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Performing as his alter- ego, Mars Mandrake, he has also appeared at period- based faires and festivals in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York. - An admirer of all types of theater, Michael has attended numerous workshops on scriptwriting, voice and dialect, character development, and improvisational comedy. He has worked as a technical consultant for a number of local and regional theaters. - Perhaps inspired by a long- forgotten aspiration to "run away and join the circus", Michael has also studied and mastered a number of the "Sideshow Arts": Fire- breathing, needle- swallowing, and juggling to name but a few. - Michael is the recipient of over 10 local and regional magic awards. - His original work has been featured in "Magic" Magazine and "The Linking Ring", trade journals for professional magicians.
