Last of the little guys, but screw you like a big dog

On 8/13/10 we began negotiations to purchase a new car from Menlove. We chose Menlove because they had been advertising in print and on radio that they would write off up to $6000 of negative equity on a trade and not add that amount to the new loan. Both Jake (sale manager) and Dave (finance manager) had confirmed this. As a matter of fact, I had spoken with Dave on the phone of 8/14/10 and specifically asked him if the "out the door" amount I was being quoted only included the purchase price, taxes and other appropriate fees, with no negative equity being apllied to the new loan. He stated that was correct. Later that evening after sitting in the showroom for 2 1/2 hours, we completed the purchase and belived the the negative equity that was being indicated was simply due to the fact that we were putting zero down and financing the taxes and other fees. After reviewing the contract later, it shows the taxes and other fees only totaled a little over $900 and that $4436 of negative equity was rolled into the new loan. This is contrary to the companies advertising, and states made by the sales and financing staff. The staff intentional misrepresented the figures and lied about their advertising statements.

VERY POOR EXPERIENCE with Menlove Toyota. I negotiated a used vehicle price. After a lot of back and forth we reached an agreement on price. After signing multiple forms, credit check, temporary tags filled out, etc., the dealer tried to sneak in an "add on" of "vehicle id etching" for $300 on the finance contract. dealer refused to sell car when i refused to buy this optional add-on. Dealer stated that my negotiated price was so good that they had to add on $300 to make a profit. I walked out. This dealer used most every game sleazy salesmen are known for during test drive and negotiations. They were even willing to backdate all paperwork and lie to Toyota Financial to get a finance deal that had expired.

Don't be fooled.......

They are very tricky. Check your emotions at the door and be ready to walk away at the last second in the finance office. That is where they believe you are committed and slip in the extras.

"The Finance Guy" and "Sales Desk Guy" tried to decieve me. WATCH FOR ADD-ONs in the finance office if you just can't stay away from this dealer.

These people are great at helping you get a "fresh start" they had us all set up to take the car home.

We really couldn't get a loan, even from our credit union because we never had any credit. We live 2 hours away from the dealership,, but we knew what we wanted and how much we could afford. After talking to Randy at Menlove Toyota, and faxing a few items, he had us approved. We checked out the car. We signed the papers. We couldn't be happier.

Our car had 12 miles on it for the test drive now 3 months later 6000 plus.
