Overall
much better

called ahead to see about the all you can eat crab legs, last timewe went in october 2010 they were 43.00, which is too much...looks like the owners came to their senses. they are now 36.95 7 days a week. the food was cooked perfectly. still need to remodel the bathrooms, but they were clean. our server "jessica" was excellent, she did a wonderful job, and was personable, just how we like them. please tip your servers well when dining out, they do not even make minium wage people.

Disgusted

In 2009 I experienced a nasty, racist, and extremely hostile attitude at East Side Seafood, Bar & Grill by an old overweight bartender with coarse bleached blonde hair and bad skin she attempted to hide with a ton of cheap make up.

We are two professional Black women who relocated to VA three days ago. We phoned this bar after learning there was Open Mic on Thursdays. We were given directions and was never told there was a cover charge. There were no signs that stated the bar charged a fee for customers to sit down and enjoy the band that was playing. Less than one minute after we sat down, the bartender with the red neck approached us about ordering. We told her we would order later. She became overly hostile and demanded that we order something at that very second or get up and leave. We said we had just sat down and had eaten right before we entered the bar so it would be a little while before we would order. Her bad attitude became worse as she made it very clear that we were not welcome and if we continued to sit there she would charge us for taking up space.

It was very apparent that this tacky, low class and wicked bartender was extremely ticked to see two Black women sitting in front of her. She made us feel that she was more than willing to physically toss us out if we did not leave voluntarily. Since we are new to this area, we did not know if East Side was a racist establishment or if they just hire racist staff who openly harass and belittle potential customers. Considering we were the only two Blacks for miles, we concluded that we were not welcome. If the racist and hostile attitude of the bartender is not condoned by East Side, I would hope that they would immediately terminate a person who would treat their potential customers in such a demeaning, disrespectful, and unprofessional manner. We are educated and professional women who mistakenly entered a seemingly decent business where we thought we would be welcomed. Instead, we were treated rudely by a low class idiot who is desperately in need of an attitude adjustment, customer service training, and human decency.

Four days in VA and we have already experienced racism. I would like to hear from other Blacks or minorities who have experienced racist attitudes at this business and other businesses in Winchester or surrounding areas.

If the owner and/or manager of East Side Seafood, Bar & Grill is reading this review, you have an opportunity to defend your establishment. If you uphold your bartender's actions and approve of this incident, then I will help you out by posting this review all over the Internet. If this review reaches enough people, you will not have to worry about Blacks, minorities or non-racist Whites frequenting your establishment.
