I had a really incredible experience at Cove Forge. Staff was wonderful, food was really good, and I really enjoyed the campus style feel that it had. I got quality care!

They refuse basic medical care. They threaten and intimidate patients. They are rude and unprofessional with patients and families. Supervisors refuse to return calls. This place is a disgrace.

It was my first n only rehab. I was there a couple months for 14 days n that was more than enough. Most of the techs were rude n it's very hard to get personal attention from any counselor. I told them my pharmacy n they were supposed to send 3 prescription over n never did. The med line 3 times a day takes an hour each time. Some of the houses for clients are bug infested. Food wasn't bad but no 2nds. Ur allowed to smoke but only at certain times by getting a light from a tech. There was a lot of male clients having puppy love with female clients. A lot of people would leave AMA (against med advice). U can make phone calls by payphone. They only make a store run once a week for smokes or supplies. Day starts at 5:30 am n ur busy running around till 8 pm. Lots,of,groups activities. I was surprised to see most people were voluntary like me. People steal things there. Sometimes houses are locked n u can't get to ur room. They make u participate in all groups by talking about things. It's 12 step but they don't ram in down ur throat or preach God. They are really quick to kick people out for almost nothing they take away any meds u bring n replace them with other meds a doctor gives u. Be prepared for a strip search when u get there as well. The campus is nice all outdoors with numerous buildings. Felt like a college campus. A lot of walking to n from ur groups or activities. I would recommend this rehab for your first time but find out as much as u can first to make sure it's right for u.

On the plus side, therapeutic groups seem to be largely helpful and effective. On the negative side, as a family member of a patient, there is little information available and no way to tell if what you are told is accurate, no way to directly contact your loved one, and some staff have a very poor attitude that harkens back to the "dark ages" of treatment when family was looked upon as the enemy. Just an example of the inaccuracy of information. Call # 1: What is the process for attending the family program, (which is a pre-requisite for visitation)? Answer: Just be sure to be here by 1:30 PM on Sunday. Followup: So the family program is just the first part of the visiting hours? Answer: Yes. Call # 2: What is the process for attending the family program? Answer: You have to wait for the counselor to call you and set up a time to come for the family day and after that you can visit on regular visiting days. Second example: Call at 6:00 AM asking for a message to be passed to the patient and for a response so as to be able to plan how to get necessary supplies to the patient. 12 hours later a second call to find out if the message was received. Response: "I'm not gonna go lookin' for him!" I am, perhaps, more than usually critical, since I was a substance abuse therapist for years, ran a licensed and accredited in-patient detox and rehab program, and started, if not the first, one of the first, family programs attached to an inpatient unit in the state. If you have a family member who will be entering treatment here either get your referral agency to find out everything you need to know or be prepared for a frustrating , time consuming, and sometimes offensive process of getting the information for yourself.

**DO NOT GO TO THIS REHAB IF YOU TAKE ANTI-DEPRESSANTS, BI-POLAR OR ANY CRUCIAL MEDICINES***

Drug of Choice: Opiates

Highest level of education: Masters

Date of Admissions: June 2015

Other Rehabs: 3

Cove forge was by far the worst rehab experience I ever had. I was picked up from

my house, 2 days late by an incompatent driver who was dead set on driving

recklesssly. When I arrived at Cove forge I was surprised to see that although

their website boasts "70 acres" it is compressed down to 2 acres. The population

of Cove forge was very dense, and there were many times when staff couldn't even

help with simple things. For example, in the heat of the day, a tech would put out

water, but would only leave maybe 15 cups to put the water in for the

over 240 clients. Therefore, many would

go thirsty all day, solely because staff did not want to put out more water cups (which

cost less than 1 dollar).

When I arrived on day 1, I was expected to get my my anti-depressants which I had been

taking for over 10 years. I was extremely surprised to find out that they did not carry

my medication. It took Cove Forge a total of FOUR DAYS to get my needed medications.

During this time, I experienced extreme withdrawal from quitting my meds cold turkey.

One of the side effects of coming of my meds was paranoia. Apparently after day 2

without my meds, I started acting paranoid and was taken to a pysch ward. At the psych

ward I was given anti-psychoic shzitophreia medicine 4 times a day for 4 days. The

medicine I was given, (respirol among others), caused the paranoia to continue. There

were horrible side effects to these drugs, that I wasnt told I was taking. I thank

God everyday that my father came to visit me after day 4, saw that I was acting crazy,

and immediately took me out. Leaving the Ward, my father took me back to Cove Forge,

to pick up my belongings.....Everything WAS STOLEN.

This is not a good place. There are not enough staff. Cove forge hires what they call

"Couselor Tech's" to do just about everything. Think your going to be able to talk to

your counsler? Well, put a request in and wait 3 days. This place is a joke. If you

love yourself, or the one whom is addicted, CHOSE A DIFFERENT REHAB.

This was a fantastic place to rehabilitate but the answers are still in the steps for the majority of addicts/alcoholics. But its a great place to get your feet set on the right coarse.

I was just there and to be honest it was a life changing experience for me cause I never was in a rehab before and the tools and knowledge that was provided to me was awesome and the staff there was awesome as well there was a lot of tech and counselors that went out of there way just to help you with something eve

N if it was just something as simple as a laugh I would re

Comend the program to anyone that is as addict and is fully ready to admit to needing the help it was a deff innate eye opening change for me thank you for everything Charles wy

I had never been to rehab before and my case manager Kyli described it as a summer camp and not an institution one step above jail. Things to consider before going: 1. . Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful though some are not. A few have serious personal issues they have not worked out for themselves. They make the assumption that drugs and alcohol have made all the clients into bad people: thieves, criminals etc. and will not hesitate to treat you as one. Many of the friendly staff members are not in a position to help. One technician was 'written up' for simply giving a platonic hug to a client. 2. Your items will be confiscated. Music players, certain books, lighters, guitar strings etc. Anything that may be used as a weapon or a "trigger" towards relapse. 3. Most clients are coming involuntarily, many from jail. Most do not wish to be in rehab. 4. The campus is disorganized. I never got to speak with an administrator there. Any requests or grievances I made were ignored and sometimes I had to wait days to speak with my counselor or contact my family. 5. At night you may be woken up every hour as a tech enters your bedroom to make sure you are still alive. 6. You will not be able to go anywhere without a tech or counselor. The 100 acres they boast becomes much smaller when you consider this and the fact that the male and female communities are separated.

My case manager did not tell me these things. I was unprepared and missed out on the benefits as I was shocked to find I had signed away my most basic freedoms to be there.
