In the center of Westport, Connecticut is a small home that has made a big impact on the community. The Westport School of Music, founded in 1938 by musician Marguerite Maxwell, is housed in the attractive building that was once Mrs. Maxwell's home. Nearly 70 years later, the school has a staff of 20 faculty members working with 200 students of all ages, and a devoted alumni roster in the thousands. Westport School of Music, Inc is a non-profit educational organization and a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. The school provides quality instruction in music at affordable rates to all who seek it, regardless of race, age, ability, income or ethnic origin. There are no restrictions as to admission, scholarships or participation in the school's programs. The school offers music instruction for both children and adults.
