General Info: The Special Education Services unit is administered by the Student Support Services department of the Ouachita Parish School System. It serves children with visual and hearing impairments. The unit offers variety of special academic and early childhood education programs. The Special Education Services unit provides occupational and speech therapies. The Ouachita Parish School System governs the Ouachita Parish Alternative Center and Jack Hayes Elementary. The district s schools provide classes in math, science, social and language arts. Its schools also offer several sports activities, such as football, volleyball, and track and field. The district s schools maintain student councils and parent-teacher organizations.
