Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter

I will NEVER adopt another animal from this shelter. I saved a 5 wk old kitten from being PTS, and was told he was healthy and had his first set of shots as part of the adoption. They knew I had other cats at home from the application. The kitten turned out to be feline leukemia positive!!! He was in a cage with about 20+ other kittens, so what if they all had it too??? The kitten was never around any other cats, so he either caught it at the shelter or had it when he was picked up as a stray. Now, since I brought the kitten home, my cats have been exposed to it as well, and my neighbor's cats, and so on. EVERY KITTEN?CAT SHOULD BE TESTED FOR FIV and FeLV before being adopted or mixed with other cats!!!! We loved this kitten and didn't find out he had FeLV until he became gravely ill and I had to put him to sleep.
