I've been looking for a three-speed cruiser for a week or so, reading stuff online and generally obsessing about it. I went to this Landis (on Warner) last night because they were open "late" (seriously why do all the bike shops in this town close when everyone gets OFF work?).
I walked around the store for a good 10 minutes without so much as an acknowledgment I even entered. The three employees were "busy" having a conversation behind the counter as one of them worked on a BMX bike. When he was done working on it, a different employees walked the bike outside for the other customer in the store and in doing so walked past me twice with out even looking in my direction.
At this point I was getting a little unhappy, I went outside to look at the cruisers on the sidewalk and then came back in and as I did I walked past a fourth employee who finally said hello and asked if I had any questions. So I asked a few basic questions and each time she had to go back to the "crew" behind the counter to get an answer.
It's obvious she was either new or didn't know about cruisers, which is fine, but at some point someone with some knowledge should have come over but I guess their conversation about World of Warcraft was more important.
Very unprofessional. Very snobby. I mean I was wanting and willing to drop $500+ and can't even get a hello, let alone an answer about a product - the ONLY product generally speaking - they sell. I wasn't in there asking about astrophysics, or the socio-economic ramifications of genocide in Uzwanabikistan, I was asking about bikes. They sell bikes. This should have been very easy.
Seriously, screw these guys. The Landis on Southern was nice when I went in a few days previously, Erhardt's Schwinn was nice, and Tempe Bicycle on University was the best of all of them. Go ANYWHERE else but this Landis location on Warner/Rural!
