General Info: Tavares Animal Hospital opened in October of 1981. We have 3 veterinarians and 17 staff members. Tavares Animal Hospital has voluntarily achieved the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association, qualifying it as an AAHA accredited practice member. These standards pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods, and management. The hospital undergoes an intense accreditation process every three years in order to maintain the AAHA certification. We have worked very hard to achieve this high level of care, and we are proud of the fact that we have maintained our AAHA accreditation since 1996.

We try everything possible to control the fleas in our hospital. If fleas are found on any animals entering for boarding, appropriate flea control products will be used.

Allergies in our pets can typically be broken into three categories – environmental/”atopy,” consumption/”food allergies,” and flea allergy. In most cases, these allergies will result in skin conditions, though it is important to point out, not all skin conditions are from allergies. This means it is very important we understand, first, what is causing the issue and then put together a plan to treat it.

Laboratory Services
Tavares has in house equipment to get you results faster. We use our full in house and outside laboratories to analyze skin scrapes and cytology, fungal cultures, perform allergy testing, and any other diagnostic services to ensure we are recommending the best care plan for your pet.
