Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Tendinitis is inflammation of the tendons and surrounding structures and usually results from excessive use of the hand at work or play. In the fingers, this can give rise to 'locking' - (trigger finger). In the wrist, tendinitis causes compression of the median nerve which results in numbness of the fingers and thumb, (carpal tunnel syndrome). In the forearm, tendinitis can also cause pain and swelling - "DeQuervain's tenosynovitis".

Ultrasound
Nerve and muscle function can be evaluated by nerve conduction studies and electromyography. Doppler ultrasound and arteriography can evaluate the status of blood vessels.
Computed Tomography
The Tampa Bay Hand Center utilizes advanced technology to accurately diagnose problems in the hand and wrist. Our sophisticated, state-of-the-art techniques allow detailed visualization of hand structures. CT scans and MRIs enable us to clearly demonstrate the anatomy of the bones, ligaments, and tendons. Wrist arthrography and wrist arthroscopy are used to evaluate the inside of the wrist joint and diagnose ligament tears and other problems, often avoiding a major operation.

General Surgery
Hand and Microsurgery Khader Muqtadir, M.D. attended medical school at the University Of Buffalo, New York and also completed a residency in general surgery at that institution. He was the recipient of the Theodore Jewett M.D. Gold Star Resident Of the Year Award in 2003. He then did a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Department of Orthopaedics. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Muqtadir’s interests in hand surgery include arthroscopy of the wrist and small joints of the hand as well as vascularized bone grafting for scaphoid non-union.
