Property DamageIf you plead guilty and pay the fine on any traffic ticket you receive, points will accrue to your driving record, depending on the type of traffic offense you have committed. Once points are placed on your driving record, they cannot be removed. Tickets for speeding, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in $50 or more in property damage, passing a stopped school bus, and other moving violations will all result in points to your driving record. If you accrue 12 points within a 12 month period, your license may be suspended for 30 days. If you accrue 18 points within an 18-month period, you may lose your license for 3 months. If you accrue 24 points within 36 months, you may lose your license for one year.
ProstitutionWhile many sex offenses such as sexual battery involve nonconsensual sexual contact, lack of consent isn't a requirement in a number of sex crimes. Sex offenses include but are not limited to: sexual assault, sexual battery, statutory rape, incest, indecent exposure, prostitution, and solicitation of minors to name a few. Serious sex offenses require mandatory sex offender registration, which involves serious ramifications including social ostracism and making the details of your crime public information.
Hit and RunOther traffic offenses include hit and run, DUI, driving with a revoked license, or driving with a suspended license. If you have been charged with any of these traffic crimes, you should talk to a lawyer at our firm immediately. You will need a competent legal professional to help build an effective defense and to minimize the adverse consequences such as possible jail time as well as license suspension and heavy fines. Contact an attorney at our firm if you have been cited for a traffic violation or criminal offense today.

RobberyFrom 2010 to 2011, arrests for crimes decreased while the total number of index offenses—or the total number of crimes as reported to law enforcement—increased, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. (The index offenses include murder, sexual offense, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft.) There were 4,594 arrests in St. Johns County in 2011 compared to 4,659 arrests in 2010, representing a decrease of 1.4 percent, according to the department's crime statistics. White Collar Crimes
MisdemeanorsFollowing a criminal arrest, it's more important than ever to speak with an attorney right away. Your rights and future are in jeopardy, but an experienced lawyer can work to defend those rights and help you fight your charges. At Taylor & Taylor, our team of attorneys has over 40 years of collective experience and has handled everything from basic misdemeanors to complex felonies and death penalty cases. If you or a loved one has recently been arrested, we invite you to fill out our free case evaluation form to have your case reviewed by one of our attorneys. We look forward to helping you!
Drug CrimesOur firm defends clients accused of drug crimes related to such illegal drugs as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, as well as illegal dealing with prescription drugs such as OxyContin or oxycodone. You may have been named as a co-conspirator in a drug bust where you are held responsible for the actions of your alleged co-conspirators. This type of situation can force accused individuals into the position of entering plea bargains where they give information on others to save themselves, which can result in exaggerations and outright lies. Before you make any statements or agreements with law enforcement in any alleged drug crimes, you should talk to a seasoned St. Augustine drug crimes attorney at our firm to explore your best legal options, to ensure that your rights are protected, and that your best interests are advanced throughout the criminal legal process.
AssaultAssault and battery directed at a firefighter, emergency medical technician, or law enforcement will result in more serious charges and penalties. To protect your rights and to minimize the negative consequences of charges connected with assault and battery, it is always in your best interests to retain the services of an attorney from our firm.
MurderStinney was convicted of killing two white girls, ages 11 and 8, in the town of Alcolu. Although officials contended that Stinney admitted to committing the crime, a 2009 affidavit from Stinney's sister argued that she had been with her brother on the day of the murder and thus he could not have committed the crime. Furthermore, no documentation of Stinney's confession exists.
Juvenile CrimesJuvenile crimes are crimes committed by minors below the age of 18. The vast majority of juvenile crimes are handled through the juvenile justice system and focus on rehabilitation. However, in cases of serious violent felonies, a juvenile case can be prosecuted as an adult. With many first offenses, the juvenile offender may be allowed to participate in a diversion program, which upon completion, would result in dropped charges.
ArsonJuvenile crimes include those involving alcohol and drugs, such as drug possession, or drug dealing as well as theft crimes, such as shoplifting, violent crimes, such as assault, battery, arson, and all other types of misdemeanors or felonies.
ShopliftingTaylor & Taylor defends individuals who are charged with drug offenses and DUI, or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The firm can also represent minors who are charged with juvenile crimes, which often include offenses such as vandalism and shoplifting. There are many other offenses for which the firm's legal team is prepared to provide criminal defense.
Money LaunderingUSDC, NDFL - multi-country drug/money laundering case involving Iraqi dinars, euros, US currency and defendants from four countries (2001)
Child Custody and VisitationDomestic violence refers to violence between people that are married, or in a relationship, family members and people who share a child in common. If the police are called to your house on a domestic violence call, it's more than likely that someone will be arrested if there is evidence of an altercation. These types of cases are often based on false allegations and used as a tool to manipulate a divorce or child custody proceedings.
Child AbuseNot all defendants will be allowed bail. When determining whether or not bail will be allowed, the judge will take a number of issues into account such as the nature of the crime, any history of failing to appear at your previous court appearances, whether or not you are a flight risk and whether or not you are a threat to someone or to the community. For those accused of dangerous crimes such as arson, aggravated assault or battery, child abuse or aggravated child abuse, aircraft piracy, kidnapping, manslaughter, homicide, sexual battery and others, the courts will determine whether or not they would be putting the community at risk by allowing bail.
