Savannah's Country Buffet

Home of the $2.00 breakfast - pancakes and bacon - I opted for the Western Omelette, potatoes and biscuit, along with coffee. Savannah's Country Buffet also has a $3.00 special with eggs and toast.

Clean place and friendly staff. Centrally located on Gaines Street, Savannah's Country Buffet is not far from the seat of Florida government in Tallahassee. I arrived immediately upon opening and several tables were already occupied.

Breakfast was okay - nothing to write home about. I ordered the Western Omelette soft and the egg portion was correctly cooked. Vegetable items inside the omelette were a bit on the cool side - maybe they can cook them for a moment or two before throwing them in. Potatoes were ordered with extra onion. I knew about the .85 upcharge for "onions" but wasn't really impressed by the portion added. Not sure if potatoes came with onion to start, but the "added" portion was really small. In addition, the term "greasy spoon" comes to mind as the potatoes were loaded with oil. So much so that my review here was reduced by one full star as a result of this very oily order of potatoes.

Biscuit was okay - no butter - just some fake whipped spread. So not impressed for a "Country Buffet" that boasts about it's Southern style of cooking. While the potatoes were full of grease, my biscuit was buttered with fake spread.

Coffee was okay - I ordered it in a "to-go" cup and refilled it before leaving. Plenty of cream and sugar on the table. No complaint there.

Service was decent and plenty of parking was available. 3 stars overall, but I don't think a return trip to Savannah's Country Buffet is in the cards for me.
