Vaccination
Preventive care is the easiest and most effective way to keep your friend healthy and happy. We believe annual physical exams are the foundation of great pet care. Vaccinations offer important protection against common and sometimes deadly diseases throughout pets’ lives, but as our pets age and become prone to certain diseases, annual exams and bloodwork become even more important. Bloodwork to check liver and kidney values, along with thyroid function can alert our team to early changes and provide vital information regarding your pet’s health. Beginning exam and annual bloodwork when your pet is young and healthy gives us a baseline to compare to as your pet ages.
Nutritional Counseling
Comprehensive Examination
After a physical exam confirming a CCL injury, your pet will likely have an x-ray for Dr. Schumann to assess the extent of damage and provide estimates for surgical treatment.Â
Hydrotherapy (underwater treadmill) is a proven technique in canine rehabilitation. With the aid of water heated to a therapeutic level to help soothe muscles and provide pain relief, our underwater treadmill provides low impact, gentle range of motion exercise which is gradually increased as your pet’s condition improves. Underwater treadmill therapy is a progressive, individualized treatment designed to improve your pet’s fitness and general well- being. We are excited to offer this service from our Enon location, Enon Veterinary Hospital, 208 W. Main St. Enon, Ohio 45323 (937)864-7733. When you make an appointment, you will be emailed a “what to expect†document to prepare for your visit.Â
TTA2 Â - Tibial Tuberosity Advancement. Â The TTA2 surgery is typically the preferred method for a CCL tear in larger breed dogs offers a good prognosis for decreased progression of osteoarthritis. Â Recovery time with limited activity is 8-10 weeks, though most pets are fully weight-bearing 2 weeks after surgery. The tibial cut for this procedure is made in a non-weight bearing area which allows the implants to be thinner, lighter and stronger than the bone plates used in the TPLO surgery. The titanium implants are designed to remain in place permanently.
Thyroid Disease Treatment
Heart Disease Treatment
You may have heard about plaque (a combination of bacteria, saliva, and debris) from your dentist. And you probably visit your dentist at least every six months to have tartar (hardened plaque) professionally removed from your teeth. And as you may know, neglecting to care for your teeth regularly can lead to bad breath, red and bleeding gums, and perhaps even to heart disease. BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR PET NEEDS REGULAR DENTAL CARE ALSO?
As general practitioners, we perform routine care, dentals and surgery, and treat common issues and illnesses. Through our team approach, our highly trained veterinarians also offer advanced medical services typically available only through specialty clinics in big cities. We provide diagnostic services with in-house bloodwork, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscope. We perform splenectomies, cystotomies, caesarian sections, foreign body removal, fracture repairs and advanced orthopedic surgeries including the TTA2. We provide therapeutic services such as cold laser therapy, and rehabilitation services with an underwater treadmill. In addition, we offer home care visits for non-diagnostic issues for pets with mobility difficulty or for pets that are fearful to come into the clinic.

Dr. Schumann knew he wanted to be a veterinarian when he was just six years old and remains dedicated to providing the most progressive veterinary care available. His particular interests are allergic dermatitis, endoscopy, general surgery. and advanced orthopedic surgery. In his spare time, you’ll most likely find Dr. Schumann hanging out with his family, participating in sports, or watching his kids athletic events.
Spaying and Neutering
Our office recommends spaying or neutering all pets. The benefits of this sterilization procedure far outweigh the risks. The primary reason to spay or neuter your pet is to prevent overpopulation of unwanted animals.
