AcupressureThis unique style of massage uses gentle stretching, acupressure, and rhythmic compressions to allow the body and mind to relax. Practiced for over two thousand years, this style of massage has been perfectly refined in order to sooth many ailments. The Northern Style Thai Massage is known to reduce tension, relieve aches and pains, increase flexibility, and boost the body’s natural energetic system while targeting each individuals problem areas. AcupunctureOne treatment per week is commonly recommended for most chronic conditions. Two treatments per week is usually recommended for most acute conditions. As a general rule, acupuncture isn’t a one treatment cure-all but rather requires a series of treatments. It is usually recommended that a patient commit to at least six to eight treatments for optimal benefits. Every individual is different, however, so this is determined on a case by case basis.

Deep Tissue MassageI have studied the movement of the body for over 20 years. I received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from University of Colorado-Boulder. After moving to Lake Tahoe in 1996, I received my first 150-hour training in massage and therapeutic bodywork, and have since gone on to gain over 500 hours of training in many forms of healing massage, including craniosacral, Thai massage, lymphatic drainage, sports and deep tissue massage, and soft tissue release. I have studied and practiced yoga for over 16 years and just recently fulfilled a long-time dream and finished 200 hours (RYT) of yoga training with the world-renowned Doug Swenson. Thai MassageI have been a practicing massage therapist for five years. Drawn to explore the healing arts, I have learned a wide variety of techniques. I began my study at Ahern’s School of Massage Therapy taking every class they offered over the course of three years. Soon after my completion, I began my search again. I was looking for a whole treatment of the body. I was referred to Spirit Winds School of Northern Style Thai Massage. Before ever experiencing the style myself, I was in class and in awe. I fell in love with the study of Thai Massage. It made sense to me, it covered the well being of the entire body and mind, while using a unique system of energy lines. It was indeed the whole therapeutic treatment I was looking for. Since that time, I have made Northern Style Thai Massage my main focus and my specialty. This style varies dramatically in comparison to the therapeutic massage of our western culture. There is no table and you never disrobe; instead the practice takes place on a mat. You enjoy feeling grounded, something that can be easily taken from us due to the stresses of every day life that put us out of balance. Thai massage has an ancient lineage that dates back to Buddhist monks some 2500 years ago. This creates a strong mind-body connection that honors the meditative state that receiving this form of bodywork can invoke.
