DRT Works

David Thompson, Jr DRTWorks, LLC was hired to build a 6ft tall retaining wall, 2car garage & driveway. After many months of frustration,and giving him over $42,000, Mr.Thompson abandoned the job, leaving a severely damaged garage slab, and an unpermitted, poorly constructed eyesore of a retaining wall.
Mr.Thompson was investigated by the SCLLR. A final decision has not been made due to pandemic restrictions. SCLLR did inform us that technically(with alterations) the wall may meet code, but that it doesn't mean it was done right or well.The fact remains, he didn't get a permit to build it. Permitting, per G'ville County, would require it to be deconstructed enough to prove footings & materials are adequate. And because it LOOKS UNSTABLE (regardless of whether it actually is) county officials & multiple contractors have warned us to not build a garage in front of it. We have no choice but to remove it.
Mr. Thompson claims he told us (per an engineer) the lower part of the wall needed more height. In fact, the engineer designed the wall with these specs. It was supposed to be graded to develop a swale. Mr.Thompson failed to do that.
Then it rained & Mr.Thompson declined our request to return to help us divert the water and mud flowing toward the house. He offered to come at a later date (at his convenience) to regrade and to fix the wall. Things he failed to do before. But, he also said he was quitting. Given the nightmare he had already caused we did not welcome him back.
The garage itself, he got a permit, but skipped/canceled required inspections for the slab. 6 months after he abandoned the job he finally sent photos to the county & the slab itself was approved. However, ALL state & county officials visiting the site noted the extensive damage to the slab that will cost thousands to repair. Mr.Thompson was incompetent at building a retaining wall and managing a large project. And he was unable to conduct himself in a professional manner addressing our concerns.

Dave at DRT Works always got back to me very quickly if I had any questions or concerns during my construction.

The staff at at DRT Works does a great job and the completed product is beautiful. I would recommend them to anyone I know.

DRT Works re-did our entire kitchen a few years ago. They completely gutted it and re-did it. To this day we still love everything about our kitchen.

The work was done so well at DRT works. They build the cabinets in my house really well. Extremely good quality.
