General Info

Saffron is a rare and delicious spice that is known for its unrivalled decadence and its unmistakable flavor.   Aptly named, Saffron Grill serves delectable Indian and Mediterranean cuisine in an upscale setting.  The owner, Muhammed Bhatti, has over 30 years of experience in Indian and Mediterranean restaurant ownership in both Seattle and Chicago and has since become an icon for great Indian cuisine.  Bhatti credits a great deal of his success to the consistency that 18 years with the same chef at the helm brings in each meal.  Everything is made from scratch, using the highest quality ingredients and no preservatives.

Saffron Grill honors tradition while creating unique, inspiring dishes. Such a combination is rare indeed. Come see for yourself.  It will be well worth the journey.

The Menu:

Saffron Grill’s menu offers something to please every diner’s appetite. The Indian selections are authentic and represent every region in the country.  Included are traditional curries as well as mango and coconut; kabobs featuring lamb, beef, chicken and seafood; masalas, biryanis and tandoori cuisine.  There is a wide selection of vegetarian entrees and every meal is accompanied with basmati rice, Nan bread and condiments.   The Mediterranean cuisine features Greek gyros, Lebanese falafel, kabobs and tandoori wraps.

A Full Bar:

At the center of the restaurant lies Saffron Grill’s Bar.  The friendly, open atmosphere sets the mood as our World-Class bartenders lead each and every guest on a tour of creative delicacies and exotic drinks.  Saffron’s Happy Hour runs from 2 to 7 p.m. everyday and was ranked by Urban Spoon as the Best of the Northgate area.  The wine list includes an extensive selection from local and international vineyards and they serve 75 different beers from all over the world as well as a long list of cocktails.

Catering:

Saffron Grill enjoys a prolific Indian catering business in Seattle, serving as many as 1,000 banquet guests in major downtown hotels, university and private events.  Saffron Grill is the place dignitaries and other officials seek out when favoring an international flavor.

Wonderful dinner. One of the more delicious Indian restaurants. Only negative was slow service. But the service itself was attentive.

Can you say delicious??? The butter chicken here is HEAVEN!!! It's not going to be healthy for my diet, but nothing wrong with cheating once in a while! We also had the cheese tandoori which was DELISH!!!

I met my manager at Saffron Grill for lunch. She loves Indian food. It was only my second time trying it so the waitress helped me pick out what she thought I might like. It was all good including the service. My husband ate what was left over from my lunch and liked it so much I have since gone back and picked up take out for the whole family. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good food and ambience.

  • Terrible!!
    11/27/2011

We had a terrible experience - food was awful! Drinks watered down or just plain tasted funny. Too many spices, runny asauces & the place was DIRTY! Don't go here!!!

  • Best Service and Indian food In Seattle!
    03/16/2011

Yes Best Service and Indian food In Seattle! I have been coming for 11 years and I have never been disappointed everything on the menu is served not only with style but also with flavors that keep you wanting more! I have known the owner for as long as I have been coming to their old place in the u-district don't believe the negative reviews they are way off. Trust me get there eat, enjoy and you will make it a long tradition like I have. I now drive 45 miles just to get my Indian food fix. The places by my home don't have the flavors or service. I am sad soon I will be deploying with my wife in the NAVY. Please send Saffron care packages ;-) Thank you my friend for having such a great place to eat

  • TIKKA WINGS to DIE For!
    10/05/2010

Oh! The TIKKA WINGS with garlic sauce, a bit of heaven for your mouth! Tender, smokey, and succulent, the taste of an artful tandor master's for your supreme pleasure. To prevent from inhaling the wings too fast, break off a fresh-baked piece of Garlic Naan and dip it in the contrast of vibrant green cilantro pesto and a bright tamarind combo sauce. A bite of pungent mango chutney, a sip from a Mango Lassi, and I'm good to go to devour the other delectable delights on the menu.\r \r Steeped in aromatic spices, the Butter Chicken is a spicy delight frought fragrant with cinnamon, cardamon, and peppery overtones. It's faithful companion and perfect coupling with a side of saffrony bastmati rice.\r \r Come for the Wings, stay for the Baklava! I know I have. I've been going since 1992. It's been consistent comfort food and service. Different name (use to be Cedars), new digs (better and chic), with a wonderful tenure of flavor and quality that I keep coming home to.

  • Terrible Vegetarian Indian Food. ***VEGETARIANS BEWARE***
    01/29/2010

We dined here for family dinner. Me and my girlfriend are both Vegetarians and Eat a lot of Indian food. As for The Vegetarian Cuisine at Saffron Grill, the food was lifeless, practically flavorless and the three vegetarian dishes we had all tasted exactly the same with small additions like green peppers or mangoes. To top it off, We are almost certain that the Vegetarian Pakoras contained some sort of fish (Biting into the pakoras tasted like a little fish fillet). Possibly contained Fish oil or was fried in the same Oil as their Fish and Chips. ***Vegetarians Beware*** If you truly enjoy Indian food and have dined at other Indian restaurants you would most likely prefer the Maharaja in West Seattle (By far the best Indian food I've found in the Seattle area as of yet, and I've ate at approximately 20 Indian restaurants so I do give other restaurants a chance). Also the Taj Palace in Bellevue has AMAZING Aloo Ghobi. Just Remember that there are options over this EXTREMELY americanized Indian Food. The service was excellent so I had to give them atleast one star, I'm just hoping this Review saves some like minded Vegetarians from a terrible dining experience.

  • Great Indian/Mediteranean
    10/13/2009

A friend has been raving about the place. Looks smart outside & inside. We were greeted by the owner. Friendly service. Started with a sampler plate of Bab Ganouj, Hummus, Grape Leaves and Falafel, salad & pita breat. The Baba Ganouj was fantastic - a delicate smokey flavor. Main courses Shish Tawook - a skewer of 5 pieces of chicken & peppers on a bed of rice with some veggies, & more Falafel (which went home). Deserts yummie & bottomless chai tea..
