Experience The Huntington

General Info
The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is a collections-based research and educational institution serving scholars and the general public. Reservations are not necessary to visit The Huntington (with the exception of Free Days). Tickets for admission may be purchased at the time of your visit. Parking is free. The Huntington encompasses 207 acres of land in Southern Californiaā€™s San Gabriel Valley, amid a diverse botanical collection of rare plants, shrubs, and mature trees. While The Huntington does not function as a wildlife center, the lush landscape does provide a natural habitat for many birds ā€“ including red-shouldered hawks, California quail, Canada geese, and barn owls. Along with three different species of squirrels, it is not uncommon to see raccoons, possums, and, occasionally, coyotes on the property.

This is one of my all time happy places. I have been going here since I was a very small child. The grounds are exquisite and their collection is first rate. I could seriously stay all day at the Huntington.

Gorgeous acres of gardens. They offer a children's garden and many restaurants to choose from as well. Impressive art collections too! My family has enjoyed a membership here for years and we visit at least 6 times a year. Fun place to bring friends and visiting family members.

This is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles. I love getting lost in the gardens which is pretty easy to do. The Chinese gardens, added in 2012, have grown in beautifully. The new entrance which opened this year, (2015), is a lot more grand than before. The art and library collections are still pretty great, but for me, it's all about the gardens. The new restaurant, which just opened near the entrance, has a huge patio which is perfect for eating while taking in the view.

We really wanted to attend just the Tea House but, we ended up going thru the gardens and art collections, which were beautiful. The Tea House I don't recommend at all. Not a true tea. But, if you're looking for a buffet-style tea and hordes of rude people.... this is the place for you!

The grounds and artifacts were beautiful.

Resturant

I went on a free day wih my bf. The garden is beautiful and so is the art museums they have. My only trouble was when I went to the tea room/cafe the cashier wouldn't take any orders or act there was any customers. The prices were expeience already but someone bring that mean while you are trying to order fries just made me rly upset.

This place is so beautiful - no matter what time of the year, no matter if mornings or evenings, no matter if weekends or weekdays - you will always find something beautiful, astonishing and simply breathtaking in this oasis of peace.

Amazing place for kids

Truly an amazing place for the family to spend a few hours. I didn't go to the museum or library, but walking the grounds in spectacular from the Desert Garden to Japanese Garden to Lily Pond, you won't be disappointed. Definitely bring good walking shoes and lots of snacks/water for the kids b/c the property is fairly large. Some of the signage isn't that great so be sure to get a map at the front desk.

High Tea

High tea overlooking the rose garden, fabulous! A great place if you like tea and scones. After, walk off all that food in the new Chinese garden and reopened main gallery. A wonderful Saturday afternoon.
