        The Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender provides legal services to indigent clients charged with criminal offense. The office also represents minors against whom delinquency petitions have been filed in the juvenile courts of Santa Clara County, Calif. The Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender fights cases for clients who are the subject of conservatorship proceedings in the mental health departments of the superior court. The office has a staff of more than 220 employees, including attorneys, investigators, paralegals and clerical and support personnel. The Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender offers the Fresh Lifelines for Youth program, which reduces juvenile crime and incarceration by building competencies in youth to help them be responsible and accountable.
