The world would be a better place if there was more bookstores like this in it. I have traveled across this country and rate this one of the best bookstores, anywhere. Even though the make their money selling books you will never be told to put it down or buy it here (unlike the chain bookstores). AWESOME staff that really knows their stuff and a great selection of both new and used books. If you visit the city and don't visit this place you are missing out.

Overall
One of the best book stores in the World!

It's not hype! This place is a legendary book store. City Lights Bookstore is for readers. Forget about those large, corporate and dull book giants. City Lights has character and one of the best selections of poetry in America.
