Luv it!! The food is excellent!!
A few of us from work got together for a Christmas dinner here. It was not at all what I expected. Food was horrible and service was even worse. I ordered chicken fajita quesadillas. It wasn't under the appetizer menu so I figured it would come with sides, especially for it being almost $10. But no all I got were 2 cold quesadillas.
Terrible! I have been to this legendary San Antonio restaurant several times in the past and I don't ever remember being this disappointed. I've always felt the food was good, but not fantastic. But normally the staff and atmosphere increase the pleasure of the dining experience. Today it was TERRIBLE! The only thing that was good about my experience is that the food came out fast. 3 of us had the Grande Taco Salad during lunch. The beef taco meat was cold, the shell was cold and hard and my friend had SEVERAL pieces of gristle in her meat. Extremely unappetizing...It was awful! Another friend had the chicken quesadilla and it was VERY GREASY and she found 2 chicken bones when eating it. After telling the waiter (who was not great to begin with) about the gristle he replied "You should have told me sooner." My friend had just bit into the nasty meat 1/2 through her meal. Then after being told about the chicken bones, he didn't say a word. The waiter never apologized, and only the salad was removed from our bill. It was an awful dining experience and we will not be returning to this restaurant.
FOOD GOOD NOT MANY CHOISES ON MENUE THE SERVICE SLOW GIRL TAKING CARE OF BIG PARTY NEXT TO US AND FORGOT ABOUT US WILL GO BACK AND HOPEFULLY SERVICE WILL BE BETTER
I ate there a few weeks ago with some friends and thought it was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to, and I've been to lots. I was in a party of 5 and we were all happy with the food and service. Their salsa was some of the best I've ever had. Some of us asked for changes to what was on the menu, and they were made as requested. I was very happy with the place. Will definately go back the next time I'm in SA.
DO NOT EAT AT TOMATILLO's unless you like raw meat and manager's that argue with customers! They served me a barely cooked picadillo meat taco. Unfortunately, I had already eatten half before I noticed...The brillant manager on duty, explained to me that the meat was not raw- that it turns pink like that when it is OVERCOOKED?!?! Seriously? Basically, not only was my food bad, but then the manager argued with me instead of just saying, she was sorry for my experience and attempt to make it better right away. I'm pretty sure she never learned that rule that the customer is right. Not until I told her I would post my experience review did she change her attitude and say that she would have a manager call me. I won't hold my breath about receiving a call. To give her a bit of credit, in the end (after I telling her I would be posting a review) she did not charge me for my dinner. Bottom line, there are waaay too many other great Mexican Restaurants in SA - why risk a repeat of my experience? I encourage you to try one of the many other Mexican restaurants nearby on Broadway instead. I'm giving the service a frown-y face rating bad rating because of this manager - The waitress was actually very good.
My family and I had dinner at Tomatillos last week. We had not been there in a few years. But we will definitely be back. Our food was excellent, and served hot. The service was also very good, they took very good care of us. We had some of their Partida Margaritas served tableside, they were so good we had two each. We definitely recommend everyone to go to Tomatillos, especailly if you are like us and have not been there in a few years. We will be back!!
My friends and I eat at Tomatillos for lunch at least once a week. The food is always good and fast. Then I come with my family at least once a month. We love the Fajitas!! We also have tried some of the new things on the menu and some specials. Sometimes we like different things to try. And the desserts are great, try the fried cookie dough, they are sooo good. I love the orhcids in the margaritas and my husband likes his big glass of draft beer. The kids have a good time, and the decorations are really neat!!
The food and prices are average. The salsa is good. I give Tomatillos four stars instead of three because the food usually comes out pretty fast. I eat here a couple times a year.
The price is average.\r Food taste is average.\r Food usually comes out really fast. \r Salsa and chips are very good.\r I will go back.
