So the other night my sister and friends are hanging out, relaxing and having a few drinks. A random guy offered one of them a tall boy purchased outside the bar. Minutes later the tiny security guard starts interrogating the girls on the who the guy was when asked where'd they get the drink. He's no where to be found, leaving the girls to defend themselves. So the obvious thing to do would be to ask the girl with the drink to leave, right? No, instead this punk man handles the girl along with another security guard, and a bouncer, (its only 1 girl) throws her out, and pushes her up against a car. Mind you there was absolutely no need for such force, and really how many bouncers does it take to kick someone out who was not a threat in the first place. This place that was once a cool hangout, has some serious employment issues, and men with napoleon complexes. Stay away!

""I've been bringing my own coffee for the sexiest bartender,Christina,to make my fav winter mix,...an Irish Coffee. It's worth the funky, underground experience of a college-type bar/club complete with (almost) nightly entertainment. Bring yo java!""

Three months ago I went to The Mix for my first time and I absolutely loved it. It immediately made my top 5 bars in San Antonio. I thought this place has it all: good crowd, good music, good service. The place was packed, but the bartenders were attentive and they'd find me in the crowd to keep me happy. I've done nothing but sing The Mix's praises ever since. I loved it for all the reasons mentioned in the positive reviews you'll find online. However, I visited The Mix two weekends ago and experienced blatant discrimination. I have never been asked to leave a bar. I've never made a scene and I always take care of the barstaff. This Saturday was no different. I was tipping well and enjoying myself with some friends. After an hour and a half of chilling and watching the Yankees game in the back room we were told to leave. No explanation was offered until we confirmed with the bouncer that we didn't fit the mold. Now we weren't dressed up. We were wearing jeans and t shirts. Very casual as is the MO there. We weren't drunk. We had just started drinking so that wasn't the issue either. Never have I felt such disgust for a local business that gives off the false perception of being an accepting and ""eclectic"" crowd. ""Eclectic"" in that you better look like every other person in there or they will throw you out. It was the most offensive and ridiculous experience I've ever had in a bar in my 8 years of bar going. As a self-proclaimed beacon of counterculture The Mix put on full display just how much they don't understand the very ethos they promote.

Make sure you check your bank card/credit card statements. This bar charged me 3 times for the same amount. I should have only been charged once. I tried calling the bar during the day, but nobody answers. Not even an answering machine. If you do go to this bar - pay cash - not credit! I will never come here again!!!! They ripped me off almost 100 bucks!! Don't go! Also, the bartenders were horrible. They were super slow, didn't pay attention but to their ""friends"". I even tipped them really really good, cause I believe in good tipping, even if the service was crappy. And this placed reeked of smoke. Wow! I came out smelling like an ash tray X1000.

Do you remember when those black framed glasses were cool? Long for those days of yore?\r Well, put on your Allstars and come on out! Our rude doorman will welcome you with a scowl.\r Get some Dr. Scholl's in those Chuck Taylors 'cause you'll be standing all night.\r Looking for a place to meet hip young people? Well..... o.k., hipsters with issues. Then this is your place.\r To say this bar is original is like claiming the K.F.C. on your block is the only place to get chicken. \r I will say the 2 female bartenders were great, fast and cuter than the vast majority of patrons.\r I cannot rate the quality of music since I haven't seen ALL the bands that play @ Mix. I will say, of the bands I've seen..... Wow! I did not know people still listen to that.

Let me say this...the Mix has been there for many years giving my friends and I a chill place to hang and just be ourselfs. San Antonio is becoming cookie cutter haven yet the one place I know I can just be me and listen to some good music is THE MIX! After a night of concerts or hittin the clubs it's the perfect place to come and relax for the remainder of your evening.\r \r To those who hate on it...well sorry maybe it is a regular's kind of place. So find some where else to go!!

Don't even bother trying to call to figure out minimum age limit! My friend and myself called three times and had the person at the club hang up each time. All we wanted to know is if she could get in seeing as she is 18. Very rude service! I don't recomend it.

The Mix is an awesome bar to be on St. Mary's strip. It's the happening spot for a lot of after club regulars. The have great pitcher specials and pretty good pricing on specialty drinks. The atmosphere is pretty smokey, but is fun to relax in most areas of the bar. The Mix is definately a place you go with a group of friends who want to talk and hang out. It's not the dancing type bar, and space is limited.
