I was hoping the online reviews of switched locations and last minute canceled lessons were wrong but that is not the case. I tried in earnest to give this place a chance as we dealt with last minute cancels and new instructors mid-season but the final straw was completely discontinuing lessons at the location we had signed up at and then failing to make it right. They refused to offer me a refund for the last two classes that each of my children had had canceled. When I tried to contact them through messages at the office as well as several emails, no response. I finally got a hold of an actual person and filed a complaint and asked to have management call me back. I was told it would be 5-7 business days. We are well past that now and no call! Do not give your money to this company! They have a complete lack of concern for the customer and this type of non-responsiveness is just totally unacceptable and unprofessional!

My daughter has been with SASA for almost a year and I am so very thirlled with her improvement in her overall technique with swimming. We also see a great difference in her at home as well. Her self-esteem is strong and she is proud of who she is. I have seen her commitment to team and family soar under the coaching of Coach Dean and the great assistant coaches as well. We are so very proud to be part of a great family. Highly recommend the programs.

Our daughter is 9-years old now and she has been with the SASA for 8-years. Her development with the SASA has been excellent especially considering we don’t have a pool at home. Our original goal was for her to learn how to swim (freestyle) over a few seasons and then leave; however, once she began the curriculum established by SASA we continued with the program. It’s been outstanding to see her develop her swimming skills (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, & breaststroke), which led to her trying out and making the SASA swim team last year. Her confidence with the swim team has spilled over with her schools volleyball and softball team.

Coach Dean has done amazing things for SASA sharks. My daughter is becoming an amazing swimmer. First you have to learn the techinique, then comes speed. We are proud to be apart of the San Antonio Swim Academy Sharks family.

Overall

This business used to provide great lessons for kiddos, not anymore. They are disorganized, put kiddos in random mixed classes and can't seem to keep instructors at one location. My kiddos have had 6 lessons and with one exception, have had a different instructor each time! There is no continuity. How can they improve if the instructor is different every time? Lessons have been cancelled (1) and location changed (1), class placement changed (2) different instructor (4) all in one session! Ridiculous!

My kiddos are proficient swimmers, no thanks to this program. We have attended SwimAmerica in the past and will re-register with them in the future. Save your money and your time. Do not expect your children to learn to swim here! Old reviews may be good but recent reviews tell the new truth.

My wife and I chose SASA after looking at various options for swim lessons for our youngest son. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but we will continue to use SASA because of the Ms. Corey.

My son did not know how to swim, period. He used a life vest when he was around a pool to avoid any incidences. For all of that, my son grew frustrated with being limited to floating around as opposed to actually swimming.

Ms. Corey has been appropriately friendly and enthusiastic from Day 1. Ms. Corey takes the time to walk over and welcome the students to join her when it's time to start, and concludes the lesson by speaking with the parents about any gains (or concerns) that occurred that day. Even with the few times Ms. Corey has chided my son for walking a bit too rapidly along the side of the pool, he still enjoys the lessons and has never complained about going to a lesson.

Ms. Corey (and SASA) has been good for my son. His swimming improved quickly over the summer that during the family vacation (five weeks after beginning), my son was able to safely swim and play with his cousins. I would definitely recommend SASA for a beginning swimmer. All of the coaches I have interacted with are friendly, work well with the students, and all listen to the concerns of the parents.

Very poor service

I chose SASA because of good reviews online. However, we went to our first class in spring with no instructor showed up. This happened 4 times in the past 4 months. They recently posted make classes schedule, but how can we make up 4 classes in a week while working full time. In the summer, We have different instructors almost every time...Very bad experience.

Sonimar is right. They are awful!!! I enrolled my kid for the summer session. We were very excited. Her first class was with an awesome coach. Sadly every class thereafter was a different instructor every time. They also cancelled two classes to which they mentioned there will be a make up class. They never made up any classes like they said they would. In addition one of the substitute instructors was horrible. Not only was she constantly looking at the clock waiting for the time to be over, she wasn't at all friendly to the children. She forced another little girl to jump in the water when she wasn't ready. That little girl was terrified but jumped in out of pressure. The girl immediately sank to the bottom and her face was terrified from the incident. That's a horrible way to get a child to love water. I spoke with someone nicely letting them know my concerns. They pretentiously said they would handle the situation only to send yet another substitute teacher. Finally I told them I just want a pro-rated refund for the remaining classes since there's no use to have my daughter attend. Every class new instructor which never knew where the last instructor left off. Every instructor went back to blowing bubbles and superman arms. It was an TERRIBLE experience. Please take your business to somewhere like Aqua Tots. I heard great things about them.

This company has gone from top notch to just awful. They have poor customer service and poor quality instructors. My children have started to regress in their swimming because there is a revolving door do instructors! Just awful!!! Take your business elsewhere.

Getting great instruction from the SASA at the Gold's Gym Alamo Heights. Coach Zach is terrific with the kids. Keeps them focused and attentive. Fun lessons to watch as proud parents of our little swimmer!

Otero family

Our Daughter Tatiana has been with Coach Dean and the "sharks" for nearly 2 years now! Tatiana is always striving to improve her swim skills and Coach is very dedicated to seeing that happen! It makes me happy to know he is like a second father to all the kids and wants only the best for each and everyone. It is so much more then just a swim team! It's our extended family.

Our daughter loves this class. My daughter started 18 monthes ago with minimal ability to swim. Now she was asked to tryout for the swim team. She loves this program. The instructors have been great. They have great knowlege of swim techniques but they make a great connectionb with the kids. Mr. James specifically has done a tremendous job of getting and keeping her attention, and developing her to achieving her full potential. My daughter looks forward to this time each and every week. We highly recommend SASA to anyone Intrested in a swim program.

I have been with the SASA for almost 5 years. We have always had great instructors. I love it that you can swim all year round. I appreciate Ms. Corey's patience with my son, he's made so much progress. I do recommend the academy to all my family and friends.

It's awesome! My daughter's confidence in swimming and being around water has tremendously improved. She swims like a fish now when before she was too scared to even try. We love Ms. Savannah! Thanks SASA!!

I would recommend them to anyone and everyone wanting to learn to swim

SASA has been a great choice for my daughter. The small class size means she gets a lot of time to practice what the instructor is teaching. The instructor is very patient and great at cultivating confidence in all of her students. We have had an excellent experience with SASA from the first phone call to the present.

Overall

We are extremely happy with the SASA organization, staff and schedules. As working parents, we have always been able to find classes and days that fit our family needs. The option of attending different pools is a plus! Our 3 boys (10, 8 and almost 4) have been enrolled for 1 1/2 years, and with each session, they improve and set new goals.

I appreciate their instructor's discipline, control of their classes, punctuality and feedback. We have had the pleasure of working with Nikia, Cory, Savannah and Isaac. They all bring a personal style to the pool, while remaining structured and consistent with the SASA method.

We will be a SASA family for years to come and thank you for your dedication. Without you, our boys would not have progressed so quickly and confidently!

I signed up two of my kids, ages 3 and 5, and they both love it, they look forward to swimming lessons!

Coaches are great, they work very well with the kids, they know how to push them, and also make them comfortable in the water at the same time. My 3 year old was scared and crying the first day, but then the instructors made him comfortable and now he looks forward to going and have his coach sing him a song while teaching him how to swim!

At the beginning they ask what your goal is, what do you want your children to accomplish, and they constantly keep you updated on how your kids are progressing!

I have nothing bad to say, and the only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because it's a little pricey and they don't give refunds! So I just hope the ARMY keeps us here long enough for the kids to finish their sessions!

Sincerely ,

H.L.

I would recommend going with a...

I would recommend going with another swim organization if you have a small child. While they are more than happy to take your money, they will not offer a refund if the swim lessons suddenly start not working out, only carry it over to another season. Also their instructor turnover is so great that you may be unable to have the same teacher class-to-class. Consistency is something a toddler needs and not all their coaches have the same knack with that age.

Definitely Swim Here

I bought swim lessons for my grandchildren as a surprise for Christmas. I was worried they would be scared of the water, but the instructor was great with them. She was very patient and really took an interest in helping them learn to swim and be comfortable in the water. They have only had 4 lessons so far, but now they get excited when they wake up on Saturday and it's swim day! I would suggest San Antonio Swim Academy to anyone who is looking for a great aquatic experience for their children or grandchildren.
