        DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We stayed...

        DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We stayed overnight at this hotel during State Band Competition. Being that the students were at this location is the only reason for my stay. Location is good, but there are several other hotels in the area. My first room had a refrigerator that did not work & television that had a very loud growl. Moved to another room, but it wasn't clean at all. It looked as if someone was still occupying it, with ice in the sink & a cooler on the floor. Third room was on a floor in which the ice machine did not work. I spoke with other parents during our stay and there were complaints of things not working properly. Everything from tv remotes to showers were giving them problems. Also, unless you have a room with a king size bed, do not expect a refrigerator or microwave to be in there.

        At the rate that was paid for my stay I highly reccomend that you look elsewhere for lodging.

        We stayed at the Red Roof Inn for two nites and three days June 12th through June 15th, 2009. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful. We walked to the Alamo and also to the Riverwalk. We did not ever feel as if it was too dangerous to walk, even late at night. The underpass by the highway is lit up very bright at night and we walked back as late as midnight. The room was clean and well maintained. When we go to San Antonio again next year, we will stay at the Red Roof Inn Downtown by the Alamo again. We also were pleased with the hotel fee for our accommodations and did not feel as if we were overcharged. A great room at a great price! I will say this, I am the one who decided to make the reservations after researching other hotel rooms and also getting input from several friends in Missouri (where we are from). The reviews I read after already making reservations were not good and were very negative. After reading these reviews, was concerned but did not inform my husband of the negative reviews and I decided we would stay anyway. Today as I write this review, both my husband and I are glad this is the hotel we chose to stay in. The staff and the hotel were excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.
