Overall

I have a lot to say about Scobey. I used the company since a family member read that they had high reviews. The woman who came to evaluate my house was great. The packers were ok, only a few things broken and one thing of liquids packed but nothing to complain about. The movers were an issue due to the fact that they damaged three doors. I called Scobey and was told to take pictures and file a claim. Within a few days a company came out to fix the doors, one that is wooden and had a large chunk taken out of it and several other dents. The company patched the doors and left. I had not filed a claim yet since I was told I would be contacted on how to do the claims process via email. I thought the patching of the doors was a kind of repair the dents for now until the claim I filed was settled, since I was never told the repairing of the doors was part of my claim. I finally got the directions on the claim process and filled out the information on line. One month of waiting for the claim to be looked at, I checked on line and the claim showed to be completed and a value of $557.49 was the settlement. Uploaded for me to see was the Settlement Detail sheet and a letter from Scobey. The letter from Scobey stated that if I wish to accept the offer I could select Accept and a check mailed to me in 30 days, if I decline then select Reject and give details why. I realized that there was not an Accept button to select. I telephoned corporate and explained the situation. I was told that the monetary settlement was for the company which patched my doors and not for me. This is where I have a problem with the process. I filed a claim for me and not for the company that patched my doosr. My wooden door is not fixed and still looks bad. Corporate stated they would have the repair company call me to talk about this. The repair company called me and I explained how I believed the patching of the door was not a part of the claim and it was not the final solution. I was told we signed a paper by this repair company saying we agreed to the repair, even though it was never made clear that this was the final solution. The repair company told me in this case I should have never agreed to the patch so now they would contact Scobey to tell them about this problem. I waited and was never contacted. I emailed a letter explaining this issue to Corporate and was not contacted back. I emailed the Killeen office and they state they would send my complaint to the claims office, even though “they do not know what I am complaining about.” The claims office contacted me by email and explained how they cannot do anything for me. They stated my doors were repaired the best that they could and that I get nothing more. So my complaint is with the claims process and how long it took for me to receive nothing. I did all the work on the claim and still have damaged doors. Scobey was awful at contacting me and communicating with me on my three damaged doors. I was the one who called, emailed and asked for help but no one ever did. Very sad system.

damaged items

Movers were not careful and even pretended it never happened because they didn't know I was looking on. The way they packed the things in the truck had damaged my furniture, and compensation for the damage was a few bucks. Would not recommend. Total waste of money. Expensive. I might as well get a cheaper mover if they were going to ruin my things anyway. I expected more from a reputable company, which was why I was willing to pay more. Not worth it.
