Very excellent food no matter what you order, and the staff are wonderful. We eat there often, and I have taken others with me and then they become fans. Never too busy or dead. This is a very reasonable place to eat. Laura P.

Love this place, my family and I eat here at least three times a month. Food is delicious, at the right price, and to top it off they bring out free dessert treats. They are always kind and I appreciate that they bring my son extra oranges with the dessert. A+++

Castle Hills has many Chinese Food restaurants But this is the best and most affordable. The staff treats you like family and the food is quick in coming.

  • Best Chinese in San Antonio
    Updated: 6 days ago

I was very skeptical because the place seems small and nondescript but I was pleasantly surprised. The food is fabulous, always fresh, no MSG, and very tasty. The prices are extremely reasonable especially for the lunch and dinner combos. I have had the Egg Fu Yung, Sweet & Sour Chicken (white meat), Hunan Snow Peas, Special Crispy Beef, and Mushu Pork, all were fantastic, especially that Crispy Beef, mmm... The service is great and the staff is very friendly. On my third visit there, my wife and I were considered ""regulars"" and they already knew our preferences and made other recommendations. I have eaten at many Chinese places in SA but I will drive across town to eat here because it's that good.

  • Nice place, but the food.

I went there because I work right behind them and saw the great right ups. I am sorry to say, not some of the best food I have ever tasted. Very dissatisfied to say the least. I got the sesame chicken and my wife had the Mongolian beef. Very bland as if the food were from a package. The service was great and the staff was friendly but it didn't make up for the food.

  • Nice little restaurant

Very cozy environment and friendly service; food is delicious but not oily like many other Chinese restaurants; A great place for a small gathering!!

From the outside it doesn't look like much but this is definitely one of my favorites in San Antonio. If you are in the area of West Ave and NW Military give this place a try. They have lunch specials around $5 and early bird dinner specials around $6 (soup, meal, egg roll or rangoon). A nice option they have here is that some of the chicken dishes are prepared with white meat which is a big reason I keep going back. I like the orange chicken as a breaded choice and the chicken with black bean sauce for no breading. The pork is good too but not a big fan of the beef, kinda chewy which is typical of chinese restaurants in this price range. The service is always great which I rate by a smile, speed, and if I get my straw. My only complaints would be that it can get pretty crowded during lunch and I agree that the parking lot is small. Overall, give this place a try if you want some great chinese food fast. Enjoy =)\r \r PS No MSG from what I can tell (I don't get dizzy after I eat here)

  • Great Little Buffet

The buffet on Tuesday and Wednesday evening is great. It is very small and they do not set out much at any one time but is really tasty. Ice tea is good and they refill and give plenty of ice. They have tables set up to clos together and is hard to get around. That is the only thing I do not like.

I love China Inn. I've tried a few other places in town, and always always come back to China Inn. Nothing can beat their hot and sour soup...it's addictive. Food is fresh, and you can tell it when you taste it.. none of that frozen stuff. Wait staff is courteous, pleasant, quick and professional. Lunch specials run 7 days a week, instead of 5.
