I brought my pet to Angle of Mercy at 6:00pm when they opened because his respiration’s were 89 per minute. There were two cars already here when I arrived. You call to check your pet in and they bring out the paperwork I had to complete. It’s now 8:45pm and I have had no calls from them so I called. They told me the wait will be about an hour to two after telling me that when we first arrived. They said they had an emergency come in the crack. Poorly managed hospital. They could have taken my dog in and either have labs drawn or an X-ray or just kennel him until they can treat him, but a least he would be able to be monitored. I’m sure they provide good care when they treat a pet but I believe they are lacking in customer service. Keeping people up to date that are waiting.

The vet was very friendly, compassionate when our dog Lady slipped away from a weak heart. They sent her to the bluebonnet crematorium. A few days later the clinic sent a sympathy card signed by the staff!! 1 week later they contacted me to pick her urn up. Years ago Ladys daughter had a bacterial infection and they saved her!! This clinic tops all the vet clinics I ever been to in San Antonio!!

The staff was amazing and the Doctor was so helpful. My puppy was put in the wrong hands at a previous office from across the street and was dying. He really tried saving her and he held her and talked to her with care. The vet tech was also full of compassion and made us as comfortable as we could be given the circumstance. I hated that day and when I had to say goodbye it more than broke my heart. Even though I only knew the office and staff for a few minutes they embraced me and my baby Chiquita. Thank you.

With all of these bad reviews, I felt compelled to write this one. I am SO GLAD that Angel of Mercy was there for my family and me last week when our 9 month old puppy started having seizures out of the blue. They were polite and they took great care of my furbaby. Yes, they are a bit pricey but ... that's the nature of the beast (no pun intended) when it comes to an emergency. It's expensive for humans to go to the emergency room so, what do you expect? But the price wasn't so outrageous that I would post a bad review. Not to mention, they gave my a 5% military discount! At least with Angel of Mercy, I had a roundabout idea as to what my bill was going to be. I cannot say the same about Banfield- which is where I was taking my furbaby after I left AoM. Dr. Mikula was up front with everything while I felt like Banfield was grasping at straws. Which is leading me to take my dog back to a private veterinarian.

Anyhoo, THANK YOU ANGEL OF MERCY!! You took great care of my Penny and, for that, you are alright in my book. I hope I never see you again but, if I do need emergency care, you have my business. :-)

Highly recommend Angel of Mercy Animal Critical Care!! My kitten and I were treated like VIPs and I was so stressed out that I REALLY appreciated this a couple weeks ago. Dr Babbitt took time with me and my very sick animal and explained everything so well. The technician really cared about my pet...like it was his own baby! I felt very at ease leaving my tiny one in their hands! Everytime I called to check on her, I was not made to feel like a bother but given time and explanation of what was going on. When I requested to speak to a doc, Dr Ridder called me back in a reasonable amount of time. When it was time for me to pick up my kitten, the staff was very accommodating with my crazy schedule! Critical care is expensive (i keep a savings for emergency health care) but this clinic is reasonably priced for what you get in return. Thank you Dr Ridder, Dr Babbitt and all who assisted there at Angel of Mercy for saving this precious kitten that was so close to death. She is thriving now!

Emergency Visit

I had taken my daughters puppy to this vet as he was extremely ill, he would not have lived through the weekend. I was told that he was a "Parvo Puppy" that he was ill with Parvo, paid in excess of $250.00 for the visit and meds, I told him (the vet) he was recently innoculated for parvo etc... and he said that Parvo would not show up in the test, (he was WRONG research helps!) well I took the meds he sold us, and found a second opinoion to find out that he did not have Parvo, and tested like that because of the recent vaccination. He was losing his life to Round Worms. He was immediately treated for the Round Worms and made an complete recovery within a couple of days. By the way my dog has been tested twice since then and DOES NOT have Parvo! If you truly care for your pet, I would think twice here as the vet that saw my puppy was not very knowledgeable!!!!!

Angel of Mercy is a caring place

I just finished reading all of the reviews and I'm very sorry for those people who had a bad experience. We had to take my cat in last night. She was breathing hard and had been lethargic for about a day. Both vets were very compassionate and empathetic as was the vet tech, who cried with us when we received the diagnosis. Our cat had major cardio problems and would have had a long and painful treatment path if she had even survived the night. Angel of Mercy is set up for critical emergencies, not routine vet care. We have never had any problems with the staff, the vets, or the waiting time. I would definitely recommend them and while I hope we won't need their services again, I would certainly use them if necessary.

My Cat & I Thank Angel of Mercy Care

I took my cat to his regular vet when I noticed he was having seizure-like occurences. I spent over $400 on tests, labs, xrays, and meds but they still could not tell me what the problem was. A week later on Christmas nite, my cat had several more seizure-like incidents so I decided to try to lay down with him to comfort him. He laid on my chest still in obvious pain but shortly moved off and peed blood near me. I rushed him to the Angel of Mercy clinic where they diagnosed him to have a serious UTI infection that was causing blockage in his digestive system that could result in death if left untreated much longer. They flushed his bladder and sent me home with prescription cat food and the prescription I needed to fill. My bill there was only $200. My cat is now doing wonderful and I am currently on the hunt for a regular vet. I am grateful for the work of Dr. Ridder and staff.

Thank GOD for Angel Of Mercy

On Saturday, July 12, 2008 I took my 4 year old Peek a Poo to the ER.

After been given some advice on keeping other dogs off my lawn I was told to distribute mothballs around the

perimeter of the property. I crushed the mothballs and sprinkled them around. Later that evening I took

my 2 girls out and I thought I saw my Daisy eat a portion of one. That sent me into a frenzy and looked

up the the number to Angel of Mercy Hospital. The receptionist was wonderful, she listened to me and

put me on hold while she spoke to the vet. Although I was not positive she had injested any amount I needed

to be sure. I was told to take Daisy in. They were wonderful, the assistant came out and took Daisy and reassured

me that everything would be OK. Daisy was made to empty her stomach content. Nothing was found but just having

the reassurance made me feel better.

A big thank you to Dr. Ridder and her entire staff.

If ever needed I will return and I recommend them to anyone.
