For my birthday my husband gave me a gift certificate to get a cut and color done at Alta Moda Salon in The Quarry. I have dyed my hair hundreds of times, but only by a handful of SKILLED colorists with extensive training. I was nervous to venture over to the salon since none of my friends had visited it before and I had no frame of reference of their caliber. I ended up using my gift certificate Easter weekend, and it was one of the WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. I was greeted by a woman named Sylvia, who obviously didn't want to be there. I have had an ombre for the past two years and on this occasion I merely wanted a touch up and a trim. She made no effort to make me feel comfortable and I could tell that it wasn't her who was supposed to do my hair that day. She spoke a handful of words to me the entire time. She left BLEACH on my hair for at least an hour. When I went to pay I was charged $170, you read that correctly, FOR A COLOR TOUCH UP AND TRIM! She used her scissors three times to give me a straight across trim and literally cut off half an inch off of my head!!!!! I left the salon looking like a toddlers prized art project. My hair was patchy and because the color was applied so haphazardly there was an appearance of blotchy cheetah spots. Definitely the work of a "level three stylist". I called and spoke to a monotone receptionist named Matt who asked for emailed photos to show their owner. I had to call him to make sure that they were received and to schedule an appointment at their other location at the rim to have it fixed, awesome customer service. I asked to speak with the owner and she was "busy" and couldn't speak with me. And surprise surprise they DON'T DO REFUNDS, they wont even reduce the price to be equal with the quality of service that you received! On arrival to their other salon I AGAIN asked to speak with Cynthia and she was again conveniently busy. Her picture is on their website, I know what she looks like. She was within earshot when she heard us explaining our situation to THANK GOD a lovely woman named Vikki. I watched the owner walk by us on many an occasion and she even made eye contact with me, not even a word. Vikki did a lovely job fixing my hair and was very personable, her only downfall is that she is forced to work in the fiery pits of tacky zebra-upholstered hell. If you wish to spend a weekend looking like a meth addict who did their own hair during a bad trip, Alta Moda is the salon for you.

If you are thinking about getting your hair done at this salon TRUST ME save yourself a $165 and buy yourself a nice box of "clairol nice n' easy" the result will be better if not the equivalent of the service I received from Sylvia. And if you do it alone the conversation will be just as good.
