  • For my birthday my husband gav...
    by  on 04/06/2013

For my birthday my husband gave me a gift certificate to get a cut and color done at Alta Moda Salon in The Quarry. I have dyed my hair hundreds of times, but only by a handful of SKILLED colorists with extensive training. I was nervous to venture over to the salon since none of my friends had visited it before and I had no frame of reference of their caliber. I ended up using my gift certificate Easter weekend, and it was one of the WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. I was greeted by a woman named Sylvia, who obviously didn't want to be there. I have had an ombre for the past two years and on this occasion I merely wanted a touch up and a trim. She made no effort to make me feel comfortable and I could tell that it wasn't her who was supposed to do my hair that day. She spoke a handful of words to me the entire time. She left BLEACH on my hair for at least an hour. When I went to pay I was charged $170, you read that correctly, FOR A COLOR TOUCH UP AND TRIM! She used her scissors three times to give me a straight across trim and literally cut off half an inch off of my head!!!!! I left the salon looking like a toddlers prized art project. My hair was patchy and because the color was applied so haphazardly there was an appearance of blotchy cheetah spots. Definitely the work of a "level three stylist". I called and spoke to a monotone receptionist named Matt who asked for emailed photos to show their owner. I had to call him to make sure that they were received and to schedule an appointment at their other location at the rim to have it fixed, awesome customer service. I asked to speak with the owner and she was "busy" and couldn't speak with me. And surprise surprise they DON'T DO REFUNDS, they wont even reduce the price to be equal with the quality of service that you received! On arrival to their other salon I AGAIN asked to speak with Cynthia and she was again conveniently busy. Her picture is on their website, I know what she looks like. She was within earshot when she heard us explaining our situation to THANK GOD a lovely woman named Vikki. I watched the owner walk by us on many an occasion and she even made eye contact with me, not even a word. Vikki did a lovely job fixing my hair and was very personable, her only downfall is that she is forced to work in the fiery pits of tacky zebra-upholstered hell. If you wish to spend a weekend looking like a meth addict who did their own hair during a bad trip, Alta Moda is the salon for you. If you are thinking about getting your hair done at this salon TRUST ME save yourself a $165 and buy yourself a nice box of "clairol nice n' easy" the result will be better if not the equivalent of the service I received from Sylvia. And if you do it alone the conversation will be just as good.

  • Best Kept Secret in this Area !!
    by  on 06/16/2012

For starters; the receptionist was personable, friendly and very helpful. A breath of fresh air around here ! She recommended a stylist who was remarkable; Sylvia ! She took a mess of hair and did wonders with it! Her expertise and talent is amazing. I recommend her 100% ! She definetely has a new client in me! I was fortunate enough that Selma had an opening to do a facial; goodness, it was the best facial I have had in a long time. She tailored the facial process to my skin needs; included aroma therapy, and upper shoulders massage. I have scheduled a future appointment with her already ! The whole experience was positive, wonderful and I am very happy !

  • Brazilian Blowout Zero
    by  on 05/12/2011

All my wife has ever asked for is sleek, smooth hair, that will last without damaging her hair. Being that we have ethnic hair and the chemicals that are typically used to straighten my wife's hair are harsh and cause breakage, we had to give the Brazilian Blowout Zero a try. \r \r She went to Alta Moda based on a friend's recommendation, and now she is completely in love with her hair and cannot stop running her fingers through it.\r \r All I can say, is you guys out there at the Rim know what you all are doing. \r \r Thank you so much for taking such great care of my wife, and she will be back.

  • Beautiful new location @ the Rim
    by  on 05/11/2011

I visit the one out at The Rim, and I have received nothing but quality service from them since they openned.\r \r Being in the military, my hair is not always important, but I am a woman, and women like to feel good about their hair. \r \r The highlights I received were really subtil and extremely reasonable as far as price is concerned. \r \r If you are looking for a beautiful facility, helpful service providers, and quality products, then you have to try this place out.

  • Not worth the money!
    by  on 02/10/2011

Don't waste your money!\r \r I had been going for a while, but gradually it has been getting more expensive! So much so that I had to leave wet headed because on top of a 150+ color touchup it is a extra 45 bucks! I don't mind splurging, but not here. They are rude, most people that work there are WAY young and the one person that has experience, Cyndi is always overbooked! Don't waste your money. Bottom line: nice facility, good products-bad management, poor quality.

  • Abbey is Great!!
    by  on 01/05/2011

I walked in off the recommendation of an employee at Sally Beauty Supply. I'm so picky about my hair however, I decided to be adventurous today and let someone style my hair because I am from Atlanta and I can only go there once a month to get my hair done and I needed to find someone locally...well I found her, she really listened and that was important! Thanks Abbey, I'll be back next week.
