The Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center is a 110-bed acute care inpatient hospital operated by the Department of Mental Health of the state of Missouri. Founded in 1996, the hospital provides a variety of facilities and services, such as emergency psychiatric care, family education, pastoral care, clinical research and an observation unit. Its emergency psychiatric services include inpatient hospitalization, health screening, referral to acute medical services and assistance in resolving situational crisis. The hospital s family education program provides classes on mental illness and treatment, stress management, community resources and support groups. Additionally, the Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center organizes staff training and development sessions on cardiopulmunary resuscitation, professional assault crises, management skills, infection control, client confidentiality, and fire and safety.
