Leaping Lizards Performing Art

Please do not send your child to leaping lizards. The teacher does not teach the kids to dance. They spend most of the time sitting on the floor waiting their turn. When they do get to go they jump over a stuffed lizard. Plus playing really loud music and running around in a circle is not dancing. They also have no quams on kicking your child out of leaping lizards. So if you do sign up make sure your child does NOT cry during class, they will kick them out. If you want your child to learn how to dance do not send them to leaping lizards.

No matter what level you are at when you begin, by the end of one class you can learn a lot. I have been taking from leaping lizards for 7 years. I absolutely love all of my teachers, they each have a unique way of teaching but are all very kind and great at what they do. I currently take from Miss Cecily. Cecily is one of those teachers that you think about even after class. During the school day I look forward to going to her class. Cecily is very good at explaining everything multiple times, she creates a fun and care free learning environment. I've learned so much with Cecily over the past 3 years, she is not the easiest teacher, but that doesn't mean she isn't the nicest. She pushes me in the right direction, she works me hard, but at the end of the day when I'm laying on the couch and I look down at my 6 pack it's all worth it.

even though my family has since moved away, i still highly recommend this studio with the utmost confidence. My daughter was in Miss Cecily's class for over a year and in that time she learned not only basic dance skills, but to love and have confidence in herself. I never thought a room or 3 and 4 year olds could be functional or cohesive, but Miss Cecliy proved me wrong. not only was the class enthusiastic and cooperative, but they also responded well to the structure and discipline demanded. It is amazing what little ones can accomplish when given the opportunity. Not only is Miss Cecliy an exemplary teacher, but the entire staff was always friendly and accomodating. we are sorry to have moved so far away.

Leaping Lizards Performing Arts Studio is an amazing place with a positive, non-competitive, atmosphere. I would know having taken 7 years of dance instruction, as well as theater workshops and voice lessons at this one-of-a-kind studio. The owner, Robin, is very competent in the performing arts and knows what she is talking about. She is also very supportive of her students' endeavors outside of Leaping Lizards and encourages them to hang up flyers for that shows they might be in on the studio bulletin board. I have noticed a negative comment concerning Miss Cecily on this review website. It is very true that Cecily has expectations of her students, but this does not mean she would purposely ruin a student's self esteem. She tries to encourage them by pushing them to aim for the stars. I'm going to be honest, I have had problems with her teaching style in the past. However, I talked to her about it in a civilized, calm fashion and haven't had a problem ever since. She is a perfectly reasonable person and an excellent dance teacher. I have noticed my own dance ability improve a lot since I've started taking her ballet class. The best part about Leaping Lizards is that everyone treats each other like family. All of the students and staff are very friendly towards one another. Leaping Lizards has friendly and talented teachers, nice facilities, and students that are accepting and welcoming, what more could you ask for?

Leaping Lizards is Wonderful! My niece has been there since she was six years old. The staff are all wonderful. She is a fantastic dancer already. She is poised and confident. I really like the way everyone at the school encourages each other. The older girls and Boys help the younger girls and boys. My grandchildren love going there too.

I have watched my daughter flourish in the many years she has taken dance at LLPAS. She has grown physically as well as gained a sense of grace, poise, and a secure sense of self. Plus she dances like a dream! I also have taken for several years and love my hour there each week! The instructors are qualified, and offer more than just a dance lesson. Seeing a studio show is proof of that! I highly recommend LEAPING LIZARDS!!

My daughter has been in dance at Leaping Lizards for over 2 years. We love everyone there. They really take the success of each performer very seriously. My daughter was in the Preschool class for 2 years and is just now starting the Doodlebugs class. She has had Ms. Cecily for almost that entire time. Ms Cecily is the BEST! My daughter adores her and so do we! We have recommended Leaping Lizards to many of her friends and they all like it too!

No trophies in the window; no yelling at students; this "performing arts studio" focuses on musical theater performance (esp. tap & jazz) and gives kids AND adult students a great confidence boost. It's fun, but not play time. Nearly every teacher has a college degree in dance, theater or teaching and all of them get paid to perform professionally. We have a young daughter and young son there twice each week, and two 40 year olds there once a week. The best part is that "stage parents" are not suffered lightly. All-in-all a great, diverse studio within the city limits!

I have to disagree with the reviewer whose daughter had a problem with Cecily. My daughter has been taking from Cecily for a number of years and while Cecily is very demanding, it's what makes her students better dancers. My daughter adores Cecily and i see the really encouraging notes that Cecily writes to my daughter and believe she cares for her individually - supports and encourages her in a very understanding way. Not every student clicks with every teacher, but it takes two -- maybe this particular student has some responsibility for what happened too? I would recommend Leaping Lizards and Cecily to ANYONE who wanted to work hard and improve every week on their dance!
