Myofascial TherapyMyofascial Release: the name says it all. The body’s soft connective tissues are a complex system that ties together just about all structures in the body: muscles, organs, bones, nerves. Myofascial Release is directed primarily at the layers of connective tissues separating the bundles of muscle fibers.
Craniosacral MassageCranioSacral Therapy can have profound effects on the body and mind. It was developed by John Upledger, D.O. Its primary aim is to enable the free functioning of the entire nervous system by dispersing tension and contractions in the connective tissue that is in contact with nerve and brain tissue, including the spinal column. It can also disperse connective tissue contraction anywhere in the body locally. In terms of general treatment, CranioSacral Therapy uses the cranial rhythm as the “handle” with which to release the tissues. The cranial rhythm is a result of the body’s ebb and flow of cranial fluid, which circulates around the brain and spinal cord, and which is expressed throughout the body.
Swedish MassageAt Integrative Bodywork each Massage Therapy session is tailored to the unique needs of the individual. The sessions have a Swedish Massage base but often include other massage techniques where appropriate. Essential oils (optional) are used to enhance the therapeutic benefits. In a warm, peaceful atmosphere one experiences the time and space for deep rejuvenation on different levels.
Deep Tissue Massage€œI’ve been seeing Bob for over 10 years on a monthly basis for deep-tissue massages. I’ve always been extremely pleased with the massages I get, which is why I’ve been with him so long. Often I’ll arrive for my appointment with a couple of areas on my body that need special attention due to a tightness or soreness being present there. Bob will give those specific areas some extra attention while still doing a thorough total body massage over the hour session. I always leave the office feeling great all over and totally relaxed. I like having soft music played while having a massage and I sometimes have to resist nodding off. Getting a massage from Bob is a wonderful experience and I whole-heartedly recommend him.†– Gary B.
Prenatal MassagePregnancy massage helps women navigate the changing condition of their bodies, providing relief from some of the discomforts and difficulties that can arise. The increase in weight and loosening of joints and ligaments during pregnancy can cause various aches and pains. Massage helps to ease these discomforts by relaxing tense muscles, increasing circulation, and calming the nervous system. Receiving regular massages throughout pregnancy helps women prepare for the birthing process, allowing them to be more connected to their bodies and more able to relax and let go.
Couples Massage€œI had always been something of a klutz when it came to massage. Sometimes I’d try to give my wife a shoulder rub at the end of a long day and after a few seconds, she’d yell “ouch!” and ask me to stop. As a Christmas present, I signed us up for a couples massage class so I could learn some actual techniques. Sarah is an incredible teacher — very knowledgeable, professional, and patient. She not only taught me effective strokes and movements for massage, but also helped me to develop the mindset to be able to use massage as a healing therapy. My wife and I continue to practice massage at home and use it often as a way to connect to each other in a very meaningful way.†– Andy W.
