Founded in 1968, the Department of Emergency Medical Services is located in Reidsville, N.C. The department provides advance life support care services to more than 92,000 citizens. Its units provide paramedic level care services. The department also offers cardiac defibrillation, hemorrhage control and oxygen administration services. The Department of Emergency Medical Services additionally provides nonemergency transportation services. It is assisted by Reidsville Fire Department, Eden Fire Department, Reidsville Rescue, Eden Rescue and Madison Rescue. The department offers 24-hour ambulance services. The Department of Emergency Medical Services has nearly 30 full-time and 40 part-time employees. It also operates a training division that offers in-house continuing and public education, protocol development and employee orientation services. The Department of Emergency Medical Services operates under the government of Rockingham County, N.C.
