Vaccination
Comprehensive Examination
We always start with a complete physical exam where we check your pet thoroughly from nose to tail. We will then discuss recommendations with you based on the findings of the exam and your observations of your pet. Our goal is to keep your pet healthy and happy from puppy or kittenhood through its senior years.

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
Fecal Sample. A fecal sample allows PRAH to check for intestinal parasites. Please bring a fresh sample, no more than 24 hours old.

Chronic Condition Treatment

Heart Disease Treatment
Anesthesia is used to provide a pain-free environment for your pet while they are undergoing surgery, dentistry or other medical procedures. To ensure your pet's safety while under anesthesia, your pet's EKG, respiration, heart rate, oxygen content, blood pressure, and temperature will be monitored. In most cases, your pet will also have an intravenous catheter to deliver fluids and medicine. Once your pet is awake, we will call you to review all aspects of the procedure.

Veterinary Surgery
Kelly is a graduate of Mount Ida College and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. She was employed at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts for ten years, prior to joining Providence River Animal Hospital in 2019. At Tufts Kelly was a technician in both large animal surgery and equine sports medicine. Kelly loves spending time with her husband and two boys, and her dog and cat. She also enjoys camping and hiking with her family.
Spaying and Neutering
Liz is our newest veterinary technician. She was born and raised in Rhode Island. Liz previously spent time in Washington state doing volunteer work at an animal shelter, while also volunteering at a wildlife rehab center and a spay and neuter clinic.

Laboratory Services
Blood and other laboratory services are an important part of keeping your pet healthy. At PRAH, we recommend annual blood work and fecal analysis, since a physical exam cannot always reveal what is happening inside of your pet's body. PRAH has state of the art blood analyzers that allow us to have answers regarding your pet's health in as little as 3 minutes. This gives you and the doctor the ability to continue your conversation about your pet's health immediately.
X-Ray
Microchipping
As discussed, pets become scared about the loud sounds of the fireworks and may run out of the home. This is a common time of year for me to see my clients asking for help with their lost pets. I always recommend having your dog microchipped for identification. The microchip is easily placed in your dog’s back and is registered using your home address, cell phone or any other relevant contact information. A veterinarian can simply scan your dog for a microchip to obtain the guardian’s contact information. I have returned so many lost pets with microchips to their loving homes!

General Pet Care

Grooming
This work sparked her interest in companion animal behavior. She then got her professional grooming certification in 2015. Liz fell in love with vet teching at the end of 2019, and has been working as a technician ever since.
