General Info
We open the doors promptly at 8 am (a throwback to the days when early bird shoe repairman and saddle makers would be our first customers of the morning). A family owned business since 1908 means that youll see Jim at our Portland store, and Rob at our Eugene store. It also means that the same care and customer service our great-great grandfather built the company on over 100 years ago is still a tenant we hold to today. Some call us old fashioned but we like to think of it as simply providing excellent leather goods with unbeatable customer service. Whether youre a craftsmen, artisan or just looking for help on a weekend project, Oregon Leather Co. has everything from full hides, tack and shoe findings to our famous leather scrap bins. We think great-great grandpa would be proud

Overall

I found the Portland store's help to not be real helpful, so I switched to the Eugene store. Super people there, I doubt any one would have any complaints there. The 5 star rating is for Eugene, not Portland.

Overall

been here many times and sadly poor service, rude workers, and lack of care and concern are the norm so basically if I need anything there it is get there early and know exactly what I want, find it, buy it and get out. Nature of the beast - they are about the only place to get the stuff they do and they aren't going to change anytime soon - been this way for 20+ years. Its here or take your chances online or from Tandy which is hit and miss and sadly not much better - must be a leather thing.

Overall

I needed some leather for a car project. My upholstery guy suggested I go here and shop for what I wanted. The guy was pretty unresponsive to my wanderings, and when I finally got his attention, it was as if he was annoyed with me because I wasn't asking him the right questions. I was completely new to this, and he kinda barked at me like I was stupid for not knowing how leather is measured, rolled, sold, etc... It takes a lot to get me annoyed, but this guy has NO customer service skills, in my opinion. I did not buy anything there!

Overall
Awful service

I went to Oregon Leather yesterday to purchase leather scraps and several Elk hides. I was going to pull out the roll of 10 elk hides from the bottom shelf and was told in a scolding voice to " Leave those alone!". I was told that the 4 hides above them were the same and that rolling the others up was a "pain in the a**". I returned the scrap to the barrel and left without the elk hide purchase. I have not been spoken to in that tone of voice since I was 5 years old. I can not believe that was considered customer service. I have traded with Oregon Leather for several years, and will now find a new source of leather. I would strongly suggest anyone else doing the same.
