Dr. Wicklund was raised in Middleton, WI, and graduated from Middleton High School in 1998. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse and a Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 2006. Dr. Wicklund is a current member of the Wisconsin Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He is also a member of the Lakeshore Optometric Society. Dr. Wicklund has extensive training in fitting of prescription glasses and contact lenses, and he is certified in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease including macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma. He also co-manages LASIK/PRK and cataract surgeries. Dr. Wicklund is married and has three young girls, and they reside in Kohler. When he is not in the office, he enjoys running, biking, swimming, doing yard work, and playing with his three young daughters.
Cataracts
The rate of progression of myopia has been linked to the development of cataracts. The higher the level of myopia in a child, the faster the rate cataracts can develop when they get older.
Cataract Surgery
If you’ve been diagnosed with cataracts, you may wonder if cataract surgery is right around the corner. Not to worry. There are many preventive steps you can take to slow the progression of cataracts and preserve your vision. That doesn’t mean you won’t eventually need surgery, but you can at least delay the need for quite a while.
