My son is 6 and participates in the Kids BJJ class. The teachers are AMAZING to say the least. They have taken the time to get to know him. They have built a strong relationship with him and he is very comfortable working with them. He knows that he can ask for assistance is needed. The teachers will spend time with him to ensure that every need is met. My son also loves the fact that his teachers are still fighters. They have now become his hero’s. I love the fact that there is a HUGE since of family in this gym. The kids and adults are greeted every class by ALL of the teachers at the academy. We are very proud to be part of the Crispim Barra Brothers family.

The only way I can describe the vibe is it’s a big family. Crispim knows so much about everything that he has the best prospective on what really works. He believes strongly in teaching fundamentals. He also has so many other top notch coaches in striking wrestling fitness and something else he brings to the table is his mind set its almost like he is a Greek philosopher because everything he teaches you about Jiu Jitsu applies directly to your real life outside the academy like he says Its a lifestyle. Everyone from white belts to blacks are very friendly and will help you with anything you need Crispim makes sure the vibe is awesome and no one has egos from the professional fighters that train there to the new white belts. I looked around at a lot of schools but this school offer everything all in one place Jiu Jitsu striking wrestling pro mma fitness boxing and the kids classes are outstanding I would bet my house that he has the best kids program in the bay area! I was talking to a Purple belt from another school and he actually told me that if he could he would rather learn from Crispim and Crispim is the best all-around teacher and person to learn from. That’s a very strong statement but Crispim is everything he said and so much more. Please feel free to call him or come to the academy and see for yourself and I promise it will be the best choice you will ever make!!!

Two things come to mind.... family and I wish I started sooner! I'm not a young kid, I'm 38. I have zero background in martial arts or wrestling, and I don't like doing cardio :) The first week I was there, Crispim was training for a fight. He had just come back from weigh-ins when he walked into his gym. Everyone stopped, his face lit up, and he went around and greeted everyone with a handshake and a hug - including me, the new guy. The love and respect he had from everyone in the room was amazing. I knew I had joined the right gym. Training wise, his credentials and current champions speak for themselves. Every technique that is taught, is followed up with a "why" or real life situation explaining it's practical use whether in tournament form or self defense on the street. There are NO egos in this gym. I have rolled with blue belts, purple belts, and brown belts, and everyone one of them has taken the time to help me out. You can't help but feel at home with friends all with a common interest. I want to come back class after class, and I know as long as I put in the time and effort, I will become good with Crispim's guidance.

The finest BJJ academy in the Bay Area. My entire family participates in the different classes at the academy and we could not be happier with the entire staff and facilities. The BJJ instruction is amazing for both kids and adults and the boxing and fitness is first rate. Highly recommended!

I was recently looking for a jiu jitsu gym and visited 3 in the tri valley area. I ended up choosing Crispim BJJ for several reasons. First, the instructor and owner, Crispim, was knowledgable, skilled, technical and very friendly. Second, the intro class was awesome. There were white belts to brown belts and I rolled with many people and everyone was really good. Obviously this is a testament to Crispim's teaching abilities. Third, the schedule was great. They offer classes 7 days a week and for 5 of those days, morning and evening classes. No other gym here offers that many classes. Finally, the academy was clean, well taken care of, modern and the people treated me like I was part of a family. I am going to start bringing my son there too. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been a student of Crispim for years. I was with him when he ran the program in Dublin and then went with him to San Ramon. I couldn't be happier that he has his own place now and he is running it exactly the way a jiu jitsu academy should be run. The atmosphere is like a family and the training is exceptional. THere are white belts up to brown belts and always someone great to train with. Even though professional fighters train with him, there are no attitudes and people like me, a recreational jiu jitsu student, is not looked down upon. Crispim actually focuses so much attention on us because he just wants our game to get better and to constantly improve our technical skills. Also, I started Danny's boxing program and it is an intense workout. I am learning things like stance, foot movement, punching properly and am getting a great workout. He teaches beginners to advanced students. I would never consider going any where else. You got to check it out.
