After treating flu like symptoms at home for 3 days, my son developed very swollen glands. His neck and face were so swollen he looked completely distorted. I suggested a minute clinic so he could be seen right away. The person that saw him said his throat and ear was red. She never took a throat culture. She said it was probably a throat or ear infection and gave him a prescription for z-pack. Still being concerned about his EXTREMELY swollen neck glands, we finally found out he had the MUMPS!!! Mumps is a virus so the medication was pointless. How she didn't even take this into consideration even after his symptoms were classic down to the flu like symptoms that precede the actual swelling of the glads is beyond me.
