Like many Italians, cousins Cosimo Tricarico and Antonio della Ducata love talking about food. Seated in the warm glow of their fine dining B.Y.O.B., Caffe Valentino, they take turns extolling the textures, colors, and, of course, tastes of their native Pugliese cuisine. Della Ducata likens the appearance of his hand-twisted tortellini to the intricate but familiar shape of a Chinese fortune cookie. Tricarico says they don't call Puglia the "little Tuscany," for nothing: "We're famous for our wine, our fish, our olive oil." And, he continues, fingering a menu rich in pasta, chicken, veal, and fish dishes, it's a cuisine like none other in Italy. While Puglia is a southern Italian region surrounded by brilliant waters, its food is, he says, a mixture of northern and southern Italian traditions, a blend of the best offerings from land and sea.

  • The Best Italian Restaurant

I just bought a place a couple blocks from Caffe Valentino. When I moved in, I thought, great, when I'm hungry and have no food in the house, I only have to walk a couple blocks. My first weekend in the neighborhood, my friends and I decided to try it out, because none of us had ever been there. When we got there the place was pretty busy, (which surprised me because I hadn't heard of it until I moved up the street). Once we sat down, we were eying up the tables around us to see what they were eating. Everything looked and smelled great. We all got different stuff, and loved everything. I got Gnocchi with Red Sauce. It was clearly homemade and light. Probably the best I've ever had, and I love gnoochi. My other friend got the pasta special, which was Black Fettucini with Shrimp in a spicy red sauce. He said it was great. For dessert we had Tiramisu, also excellent. The service was friendly and accommodating. Any foodies who that haven't found this place yet, should go check it out.

the food and service is great a caffe valentino. my friends and i went last night and had a great evening. the specials were delicious. i started with grilled langostino, very fresh. for entree i had the red beet fettucini with jumbo shrimp in a spicy red sauce. so good. the only down side was that i ate too much and only could have a spoonful of tiramisu which was awesome. highly recommended.

  • Beautiful Valentine's Day
    by  on 02/15/2010

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Dinner and had an absolutely great time! The Valentine's menu was delicious, the service was great, and the complimentary lemoncello and chocolatecello (sp?) were fabulous! If you haven't been here yet, you must go try it out.

  • You better think twice....

A group of my friends get together for dinner a few times a year. In December of 2009, we chose Caffe Valentino. It will be the last time we dine there. The caesar salad was small and bland. I had to put salt on it (I never use salt). The tomatoes on the tomato/mozzarella appetizer were not ripe and hard as a rock. My chicken marsala sauce had no flavor at all and hardly any mushrooms. Everyone was disappointed. It is a BYOB and we brought wine with us. We all had an appetizer and entree (no dessert), most prices low to mid. We ended up paying $80.00 per couple. RIP-OFF !!!!!!!
