Overall
Great place

I think Mickey308 has some general facts, but taken out of context. I've taken my dog to dairydell many times. They love it. Even the training went great. Dairydell uses positive reinforcement in the way of praise and treats. But just like with children, not everything is fun and games. Everything about the training is made where a dog can understand it. It's based on a pack setting. The change can imitates a leaders growl, just to say stop what your doing. The training collars imitate the way a leader would give alittle nip if one of the members of the pack was doing something wrong (and by the way, they don't hurt at all, I've tried them on and they don't hurt). Plus all the trainers are very well trained. They know what they're doing. My dog came out of training well behaved and more confident then ever. I completely love this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Animal lovers beware

Dairydell is a boarding/training "facility" that dog lovers should beware of. The "training" is conducted at times by nonlicensed trainers. All behavior trainers believe in negative reinforcement. Penny cans are used to scare your dog into submission. This type of training from my experience only trains the dog to display negative behaviors when similar metal on metal sounds are heard. Metal pinch callers are also used on all dogs. Metal pinch callers are saved for extreme behavior cases only (in the professional dog world). It is a shame that a facility with such potential is ran in a business, profit, and non dog loving way. I would never allow any animal to come in contact with this type of facitlity. Owners should also be aware that under-trained people are using very appropriate ways to force the dogs to do their "business" before they are left alone for the evening. Please, if you care for the care for the safety and well being of you dog do not leave him/her in their care.

A customer called my attention to the scathing review by Mickey308, and thought is sounded so out of character with what she has experienced at Dairydell that she felt I should now about it. I took a look and was horrified that anyone could have such an agenda as to write such hurtful words about a business that is founded on "treating every client as a friend and every dog as our own". The author, hiding behind the code name "Mickey308" wrote these words on 6/19/08. Although I cannot discern the real identity of the author, the date conincides coincedentally around the time I had to sever a relationship with a trainer renting space from us. This was terminater due to making subversive comments about Dairydell and unnkind treatment of clients on my property. I can only wonder if the two things are related... All that said, we invite EVERYONE to visit Dairydell at anytime during business hours - no appointment necessary. Drop in and take a tour. Ask us about our training services. It will be our pleasure to show you around and answer any and all of your questions. You will quickly see why Dairydell is a very special place for dogs - and the people that love them. Go to our website: www.dairydell.com. See you soon at Dairydell! Camilla Gray/Nelson President Director of Training
