Miss the old gladstones:
I heard that it had changed owner that day. I have been going to Gladstones for years, went this day for Sunday Easter Brunch and it was a bad, bad, bad, experience. Was sat down at our table and began to give us the specials of the day, so we order the brunch. She told us I'll be back with your plates, waited for them and keep seeing her go by and no plates. Had to ask her for our plate again and again no plates, so I asks another waiter for some plates and he finally give us our plates. She later came back to the table and said sorry, and said that they have extended the hours for the brunch so no need to worry that we had lots of time. I had asked for water and juice to go with our food, again, keep seeing her go by and no drinks. Went and got some food in the rain, they had a giant umbrella but the food was in the rain. Didn't understand that! Get back to my table and no drinks, again seeing her go by and every time asking for my drinks did this four to five times and then asks another waiter. Finally got my drink and then she tells me that they had closes down the brunch I look at her and said that I was still hungry can I have something else, she tells me I would have to order from the menu and paid again for that. You can image the angry, I said no. Left hungry.
It's not the same any more, don't think I will be going back. Everything is OVERPRICE, menu has changed, DID NOT LIKE the matrons in the bathroom, VERY, VERY, VERY BAD SERVICE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE experience.
Will not be going back to Gladstones!!!!!!

Great views, excellent food. Went there for an office party. Great location, right on the ocean, inside and protected outside seating. Had great vegan and vegetarian food, including a killer flatbread. The omnivores raved about the beef.

Rented out for an office party and everything was great. Location is amazing.

Great clam chowder, great location. All the classics you would want from a good seafood place: sourdough bread, fresh sea food, good service. The interior decor could use a punch up, but the location on the beach is unbeatable.

Gladstones is my favorite seafood and beach bar/restaurant. I always go here on weekends for lunch with my little girl. The view is spectacular on any day. We get a window table inside if the weather is cold. On sunny days an umbrella table on the patio is a must. When it comes to food, it's amazing... we love, love their Clam chowder (it's simply the best in town), Fish and chips and Macadamia rock shrimp We enjoy the food, the view and foil wrapped leftovers. Last Saturday it was a foil wheal we took home with us.
Here are the reasons why we keep going to this place: good for groups, great for brunch, great for outdoor dining, kid-friendly, romantic, special occasion, scenic view.

This place is 100 % better than what it used to be! First off, LOVE the view! No wonder the food is so fresh, you're sitting on top of the ocean! I got the seared tuna cobb salad, and I don't think i can ever eat a regular cobb again! We also tried some stuff from the raw bar, which was extremely fresh and delicious. Def check this place out!

I stopped by Gladstones a few weeks ago after a particularly pleasant outing to the Getty. I was on a date and wanted to impress and the restaurant picked right up where the museum had left off: classy and sophisticated, killer views and quiet and intimate atmosphere. It's easy to get swept away by the views of the sunset and Malibu, but I must say our food and entire dining experience were top notch as well. I had the Salmon Cartoccio and she loved the Spiced Crusted Tuna. Great service, awesome food and a hell of a location for any outing, but definitely for a successful date ;)

My friend is all about the new trendy food joints and she begged me to come here with her because I guess they did some remodeling? Anyways, I personally have never heard of Gladstones, but I'm always up for an adventure. Two words: Really Good!! If I had known more about this place prior, I would've gone willingly. My friend was nice enough to cover my meal because she was so thankful she didn't have to eat alone. I got the fish and chips and later, because the food was so delicious, we both ordered the jumbo sized crab legs. So good!!! My mother is from Hawaii and she was always about cooking seafood. The crab legs were better than my moms. Sorry mom! I never say that, but in this case I have to. If and when my mother visits me again, I'm definitely taking her here. I can only imagine what their other food tastes like. I hope to find out soon!

Gladstone's chowder is the reason to check it out. But this place is more than just a restaurant by the beach, it seems to really stand out as just a great upscale casual eatery.

I recently checked this place out for the first time. Sometimes places like this can go either way, but I was impressed. Reminded me of a something you might see in a upscale east-coast beach community, it's very modern and not fast foody at all. I would give it a try!

There are a few reasons for the bad rating:
1) The food is overpriced.
2) The food is expensive.
3) The service is HORRIBLE. I mean on busy days, you will be waiting 30 mins to order and an hour to get your food. It may not even be worth ordering dessert, because that might take another 30 mins.
4) Parking is expensive too.
The only thing good here is the view. So go to the beach instead.

Waitress brought us a wrong soup, she apologized, brought a new one but left the other on the table so my friend took a few spoons of that unwanted soup. I took a bite and didnt like the sandwich I ordered so I asked the waitress if she could get it wrapped up for me. They took my full plate and my friend's half empty plate. Her take-out arrived, mine is nowhere to be found. They said the busboy threw away my plate. So I asked her to bring me a full plate in that case.... It took 30 minute for a cold lobster sandwich to arrive.... On the bill, there was that soup we never ordered. She rudely said "But your friend ate it didnt she?" Well missy, you were too lazy to pick it up from the table weren't you? I WAS A WAITRESS ONCE and I am very easy on waitresses wherever I go. But the service here SUCKED. The food was too expensive for its quality. This place is perfect for bulimic Malibu girls who follow the hypes and trends. But if you want quality food and good service, dont go here....

We love Gladstones. It is a favorite for birthday celebrations.
The chocolate birthday cake is divine. Seating is either outside or inside with sports t.v. in the bar. Waiting list, but worth the wait.
They serve peanuts in a basket to
munch while waiting. They have the freshest seafood and we always take home leftovers which they wrap molded into an ocean animal in
bright gold foil.
