don't listen to the nay Sayers, this is a hidden gem. I eat here every week and have never had bad meal!

My husband and I had decided on having dinner there this evening, because I heard a lot of good things about them (especially, their sushi) and wanted to check it out for ourselves. We are not easily convinced just by word of mouth or the buzz alone, when pursuing new dining experiences because they usually end up disappointing. Most reviews (mainly local) that I've come across, that deem a restaurant as "excellent" are very often misleading . Much to our delight, the sushi, our entrees and appetizers were very flavorful and absolutely delicious! The buzz on Royal Kitchen reigned true!!! We are so very thrilled to FINALLY have a place here in town that has good sushi! Definitely exceeded our expectations and is the best Asian restaurant in Oshkosh, hands down! Kind and attentive service, wonderful presentation, great food and reasonable prices. What's NOT to like?! All around spectacular! Don't get me wrong, Shanghai was my go-to place for Chinese delivery/takeout and was my favorite amongst all the others. But I can easily get over the fact that they don't provide delivery, because normally, I would have to drive to Appleton for decent sushi. Not to mention, that they also provide Thai dishes (which I'm very excited to try.) So, no complaints from me! I'll take quality over convenience any day! I'm not one to go out of my way to rate a restaurant (and this, being my first time doing so) but I cannot help but spread the word in hopes to keep this exceptional restaurant here in town! I wish them steady business and limitless success! I find most places (of all food styles) in Oshkosh, in regards to the quality of their food/dishes to be generally sub-par or mediocre. I'm so happy that's not the case with Royal Kitchen! It's definitely worth the trip, in my humble opinion. I cannot wait to go again!!!

While delivery is always nice, the lack thereof is by no means justification for a one-star rating...I will go based on food and service.



The first time I came here, I just picked something up to go but was pleasantly surprised by the menu. FINALLY, a place in Oshkosh where you can get fresh sushi! The vegetarian sushi options were slim, but that's pretty much expected around here. I had the avocado and cucumber roll and the mixed vegetables and tofu with white rice, which I loved, because most Chinese places that I've been to in the area don't have tofu in their entree options. (Plus, they have Pad Thai! It's not on the menu, but it's written on a board as one of the specials up at the register).



About a week later, I took some friends here to dine in because we wanted sushi. It was a great dining experience - I could tell that they are either under new management or just getting used to American dining customs, but our server was very sweet and helpful. The place was very cozy and inviting, and they had decorations including a Christmas tree up, along with a few simple lanterns that had oriental symbols. We started off with free edemame, which easily turned it into our new favorite place. This time I had the vegetable lo mein from the lunch menu - one of my fallback choices - and the cucumber and avocado roll again. One of my friends had the Philly roll and the Boston roll, which she finished every last piece of. The other two split one of the chicken options and what must have been the 007 roll, because it was deep fried so I remember it took a little longer (everything is made fresh to order!) and they said it was all deliciously amazing.



Overall, I will be coming back many many times. The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh and scrumptious. If you can't use chopsticks, you may have to request silverware.

This is a sad day. I lost my favorite Chinese place in town. We would order on min twice a week from this place sometimes spending large sums of money. I have been patiently waiting for it to reopen. It finially reopened. Now the place doesn't deliver! Good luck "Royal Kitchen" because you are not going to be in business long with Chinese restaurant that doesn't deliver.

I give 1 star to what used to be a 5 star place when it was called Shangai. It is now under new ownership and the new policy is not to provide delivery. We had very satisfied group of people at my work place for Shangai and did roughly $240 worth of business a month with them ordering once a week. We do not have enough time to go and pick up orders during our alotted lunch time for the person picking up and therefore are choosing another place to fulfill our orders. Everyone here is very disappointed in the non delivery policy of the new ownership.
