        ACT scan of the heart is performed after administration of intravenous contrast and oral medications to maintain a low, steady heart rate and dilate the coronary arteries. Using advanced computer technology, images of the heart are reconstructed allowing detailed evaluation of the heart and coronary arteries. Cardiac CT is a safe, non-invasive, outpatient procedure. It determines whether or not a patient has coronary artery disease, the severity of the disease, and whether there is significant narrowing of the coronary arteries. This provides vital information to your physician.
