HMO Plans: Patients in HMO insurance plans are required by the insurance plan to obtain referrals from their primary care physicians prior to making an appointment or scheduling procedures. Please be sure to obtain your referral so that you don't have payment issues after services are provided.
Emergency Care
Our physicians are available for our existing patients after hours for urgent situations. Please call our office number and our answering service will direct you.**If you need emergency care, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.**
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy Screenings: Some insurances cover screenings and some do not. It is not clear which insurances will cover this service. Please be sure to check with your insurance company PRIOR to scheduling a procedure. You and your physician should agree if the colonoscopy is for a screening or if it is for diagnostic purposes.

Southwest Gastroenterology accepts most insurance plans. Please contact your employer or our office to determine if our physicians are contracted with your particular insurance plan. We do accept assignment for Medicare also.
Endoscopy
Oak Lawn Endoscopy (OLE) is an ambulatory surgical center that is located in the same building as our Oak Lawn Office. Our procedures are performed using state of the art high definition scopes.

Ultrasound
Our practice also provides advanced endoscopic procedures (ie endoscopic ultrasound, fine needle aspiration, cancer staging, advanced pancreaticobiliary procedures). Only a few gastroenterologists in the area are trained and experienced in these newer advanced technologies.
