General Info
When your pet is sick or injured, you cannot risk waiting for a veterinarian's regular office hours. You need immediate, quality care. The Animal Emergency Center (AEC) provides full service emergency and critical care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, small mammals / pocket pets, reptiles and other exotics. In fact, AEC is the only 24 hour emergency animal hospital in Southeastern Michigan with staff specifically trained and experienced in providing emergency care for exotic and avian species. Our facilities are also the only 24 hour emergency hospitals in the area that are AAHA certified. AEC's commitment to providing excellent veterinary care has enabled us to create valuable relationships with the veterinary community and the public. We partner with in-house, board certified cardiologists that are available to assist in cardiac emergencies, and we also routinely collaborate with other specialized diagnostic and rehabilitation providers to ensure the best possible continuity for treatment. Our quality care and experience has helped thousands of pets since we opened in 2002, but it is the forethought, warmheartedness, and proficiency of our entire staff that makes AEC your best choice for any pet emergency.

Today I made the impossible decision to put my beloved dog to sleep. I don't blame AEC for his death, but I feel that their failures and critical bad calls when it came to diagnosis played a key role in in his chances of recovery and caused unnecessary suffering to him and his family. I released our dog to them in good shape for 2 days and they returned him to me stressed and severely debilitated. They charged close to $4,000, which a little over the quoted amount but failed to provide exams that would've made a diagnosis possible and were originally included in their estimate. Instead of focusing on a diagnostic they threw everything at him in terms of medication, but failed to provide him medication for his primary problem upon discharge, which put us in a tough situation where we had to call back and question this decision. After being dismissed by a rude technician one of the vets had the decency to call back, recognize the issue and release the necessary medication, unfortunately, this delay was yet another critical bad call that setback his recovery. Finally I will say that what they attempted to do would probably have worked for the majority of the cases similar to what we experienced, but we were something else and they made mistakes and failed to go beyond mediocrity while charging handsomly for it and making things worse. To me AEC is far from a place to healing, it's a place of suffering and a place of lost hope. I hope they will do better.

I called and was told to get there ASAP I was there in Lee’s the 45 minutes and called to let them know I did everything they ask me to do and then I waited now I don’t take my family in unless they are very sick. When I called I told them that my dog a a mass on his neck under his chin which in less than 48 hours grow from a gulf ball to the size on his head and he is a basset hound. The whole time I sat in there parking lot no one even came out to look at him to see if he could wait I watched people inside eat and watched a total shift change. My dog of 4 years quite breathing and I tried to call they hung up on me I called back they put me on hold I watched people walking around inside and yet no one would help me So after 3 and a half hours I took my dog home to bury him and finally some one called and left a voice message that said if you are still here we need more information. This is the worst place and anyone who takes there pet there should just plan on burying them Because they will get no help there

Our wonderful Golden Retriever became very sick in the middle of the night. We rushed him in ,only to find out he was too sick to save. I will always be thankful for the tenderness he received as well as myself. I was very upset but the staff was so caring I felt at ease at being able to mourn.Wonderful people ,so reassuring.

These people fixed our dog after it was hit by a car, problem was they partially stitched her and the other part glued, which came undone, then they claimed they didn't use glue in that area....calling us liars and asking us to leave....I would not recommend them for anything animal related, overcharged, unprofessional and could care less about the costumer.... this is a money pit!

ho they r emergency vets specializing in cardiology, they provide a wonderful hospice service for animals. Very impressed with their end of life service. My Dober boy with aggressive fibrosarcoma went into congestive heart & lung failure at 1 am. Drove to this Animal Emergency Clinic. They put us in their "Family Room", which is like a small living room ... padded bamboo chairs, end tables, nice carpet. So much much better than a sterile examining room. The vet was considerate, compassionate and experienced. They could have raked me over the coals financially for the euthanasia, private cremation, and oak urn (included in this service) but they didn't. More reasonable that most vets during normal business hours. I will definitely use their services in the future. Thank u. This is how end of life for our cherished pets should be.

Wonderful people doing a wonde...

Wonderful people doing a wonderful service. I've had to run up 3 times, twice to euthanize kittens at the bad end of FIP, and again today with an injured baby bunny. All 3 times we were given service immediately upon walk-in, each time the staff was supportive and compassionate, and the rabbit was treated for free and signed over to wildlife rehabilitation. Animals have emergencies just like people, and it's comforting to know somebody will always be available to help them. I can't thank them enough for what they do.

AEC saved my dog's life!

My dog had vomited a couple of times overnight and wasn't acting right by morning, but I thought he had just been chewing on grass or something in the yard. I waited thru a day of this before I thought I better take him to be looked at, and my delay nearly cost my dog his life. Little did I know but he had eaten a piece of trim edging off of an old quilt - the cloth had gone partially through his digestive system and become a 'linear foreign body obstruction' that was cutting off circulation as well as blocking his intestine. Jack had to have sugury immediately and wound up having to have his bowel resected after the obstruction was removed. It was a very serious condition that I had made worse by not acting quickly. I felt terrible about it, but no one here ever judged me. I was able to stay by Jack's bed the whole time while he was recovering, and although it was probably awkward having me be around so much, everyone was tremendously understanding and very supportive. Thank you Dr. Lauren and Dr. Matt and all of the many AEC staff that helped take care of Jack. I spent a lot of time there sitting with Jack in your hospital and I watched how responsive and caring you were not only with my dog, but with all the many other pets that I saw come into your hospital. While I hope I never have to come back for a problem like this again, I know exactly where to go for help with any of my pets.

The best animal hospital

I have a rabbit which needed emergency care quickly. I had gotten referred to the hospital by the person in which I adopted one of my other rabbits with.

My rabbit has a GI infection which causes them to stop eating and drinking water. With this, the rabbit is in grave danger and the rabbits health can deteriorate at a very fast pace.

The other veterinarian that I went to earlier in the evening made a wrong diagnosis of the problem. Discovering that this diagnosis was not correct, I then brought my rabbit to the AEC.

The staff was very professional and the clinic itself was clean and innovative. Their techniques and technology are clearly up to date. The doctor is entirely knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I have been to veterinarians whom were questionable on how they even had received their degree.

They will do their ultimate best to save an animal which is in dire need of assistance. Although keeping the animal overnight is entirely pricey, they do work out options and instructions for you to do at home if you do decide to bring your pet home. The price for keeping the animal overnight included with all the antibiotics and others came out to over $700. If it is a total option in which you cannot help your animal at home, keeping him at the hospital would probably be well worth it for the care that they give your animal.

This hospital is truly heavens sent to all animals.
