The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has been operational for more than 40 years and offers services in the areas of mental health and substance abuse. It is responsible for providing services to Oklahomans who are affected by mental illness and substance abuse. The department collaborates with leaders from multiple state agencies, advocacy organizations, consumers and family members, providers, community leaders and elected officials. The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services offers services to more than 60,000 individuals each year. It provides a range of community-based services, including the implementation of programs for assertive community treatment and alternative criminal justice initiatives, including drug and mental health courts and comprehensive services for children and families.
