My group of friends had paid $175.00 each to The Eldridge for VIP access to their New Year's Eve 2010 event held at Hotel on Rivington. We had delivered cash in full to their events director, Michelle Jimenez. We have email confirmation and documentation to support this. In the package and our communication, we were told that we would have access to the Penthouse level, the ground floor, and an open bar. However, upon arrival at ~ 10:30pm, we were not admitted and told to wait in front while the bouncers randomly let in others who had the same exact tickets. When asked why, they shrugged and told us to get in back of the line of about 40 people who had been waiting for at least an hour. At around 15 minutes to midnight, they started to let everyone online into their establishment. When I got to the entrance, I was shoved by other partygoers pushing to get inside. It was unbelievably crowded and clearly a fire hazard. The event coordinators did not do anything about the situation. It was very evident that the event was over sold since they could not admit anymore people without someone being crushed/injured. The result was that we did not get into the establishment, did not enjoy any of the amenities that we were entitled to as VIP ticket holders. My boyfriend emailed a complaint to Michelle Jimenez, Matt Levine, and other event coordinators that very night (January 1, 2010) demanding a full refund. She did not respond. After two weeks, I persisted with a follow up email on January 14th with no response. Not knowing who to contact, I called both the Eldridge and NewYearsEve. Neither would take accountability. The Eldridge claimed that they are only the middlemen and NYE claimed that they could not be held responsible for tickets purchased from promoters. They also both claimed a no refund policy but that policy was nowhere to be found in our communication. Their second claim was that even if we had set one foot in the door, we would be ineligible for a refund. The email we had received stated that we would have access to the Penthouse AND access to the lower levels. We could NOT physically reach those places. The event was mismanaged and falsely marketed. Many others were cheated in the same way.

This was the WORST NYC bar experience I have ever had. The crowds were so bad and out of control both the police and fire department came while I was there. The Eldridge is also managed very poorly and there is only 1 unisex bathroom and 1 coat check, both located in the back of the bar so it was impossible to get to either. Do not bother with this place.

Managed to get in last night with my girl - door policy is super tight, but it was worth the wait - music was sick, crowd was great - they even had a saxophone player and a trumpet player playing along with the DJ which brought a cool vibe. I wouldn't suggest going there with a group of friends - but its def NYC's new hotspot, I'm feeling it, and will def. be back...bring a date, bring a good crew...\r Outside door staff can be a little rude, but they were just doing their job, but once you get inside - staff is amazing (and beautiful)...I am feeling The Eldridge!

So I have been reading about The Eldridge opening up for several weeks now, I live on Eldridge Street, next door to The Eldridge... so I didn't know what to expect. At first I didn't want a pretentious wannabe hotspot in the LES. I walked by on Thursday - saw Donald Trump (he is huge in person), and a ton of 5'11 supermodels, then on Friday I saw what looked like the cast of The Hills, some 7 foot tall athletes, and then on Sunday night - I saw a very good looking and hot LES-hipster type crowd (which is more my scene)., and a lot of familiar faces (I don't recall all their names, but I def have seen them on TV). Monday was a mob scene, and then last night was a private party with Rolls Royce, Phantoms, Mercedes, and what looked like secret-service. All in all - I had not been inside yet, but from what the crowd outside looks like - The Eldridge looks legit - I am looking forward to actually (and hopefully) getting inside, and I am happy to have The Eldridge on my block - its bring a diversity that the LES needs...\r \r
