SMBC Capital Markets is a market maker in interest rate and currency swaps and interest rate options in nearly 20 different currencies. As a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, SMBC is backed by one of the largest banks in the world. Prior to the merger between Sumitomo Bank and Sakura Bank to form Sumitomo Mitsui Banking, there were three entities that included Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets, SBCM Limited and SBCM Derivative Products Limited. There are three entities in the merged group that include SMBC Capital Markets, SMBC Capital Markets Limited and SMBC Derivative Products Limited. SMBC Capital Markets Limited acts as an agent for the company by entering into interest rate and currency swap and option transactions with counterparties in Europe, Africa and the Middle East on behalf of SMBC. Products include interest rate and currency swaps, swaptions, equity linked swaps, quantos, corridors and credit derivatives. SMBC Capital Markets is located in New York.
