County of New Madrid

I have been a resident here in New Madrid for about a year now and there have been times where I have not occupied my place for months at a time and I have been charged anywhere from 150-190 dollars for lights not being on or no one living in the home to use the water either. When I tried asking where the high bills were stemming from, I received a smart remark about that being what the bill was and no other explanation was given I knew then that they could charge whatever prices they pleased and that there was nothing that I could do about it.
