We left Alcham a short while ago and please understand that I'm not exaggerating or embellishing at all when I say that it was the single most profoundly horrible experience I've ever had at any restaurant, ever. My wife has had a previous poor experience there; but in the spirit of fairness, we decided to give it another go. Mistake. There were 8 in our party; 3 of them were young children. We got there and were seated at 6:45pm. Even though there was only one other table occupied, it took around 25 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. After around 40 minutes we got our soft drinks (which were all flat). While we waited (and waited...) we were treated to television projected on to the wall next to us. I believe the channel was called "Arabian M". During our wait, the channel showed a movie clip of some sort that included one man who put a pistol to his head and graphically blew his brains out and another man in prison being held down by 3 others and shanked several times. I'm not joking here. We probably should have taken these all as signs that this wasn't going to work out and left; but we're all pretty patient people, so we endured. Besides, luckily the children who were 2, 6, and 8 didn't seems to see what I had on the broadcast. We finally all ordered pretty simple selections: salads and sandwiches mostly. Two more tables came in around 20-25 minutes after we had. The party that came in second had ordered, been served, ate, talked, paid, and left a half-hour before we ever got our food. My wife and I had our 2-year-old and 4-month-old with us and had to go up to the front of the restaurant to ask the lady, Maria, to bag up our food in to-go containers because our kids weren't able to deal with sitting there any longer. It had been an hour and twenty minutes now since we had gotten there and we had a half-hour drive home. That portion of the order came out around ten minutes later (a meatless salad and a sandwich wrap). We left, but the others in our party were committed at that point and stayed to eat. Around 30 minutes later, their food came out. After they ate, my mother-in-law politely informed the lady, Maria, who was running the show of how incredibly bad our experience had been. She offered no apology or explanation. However she did have a retort: and I may be paraphrasing slightly, "Next time call ahead when you come with ten people." Seriously. As I said, there were 8 of us, 3 being kids who ordered chicken nuggets. The rest of us, salads and sandwiches. My mother-in-law, not one be shown up quickly informed her that there would never be a next time. This experience was so awful that it bordered on bizarre.
