Boston Reed College

I took a class through Boston Reed at an office site location not in Napa. I thoroughly enjoyed my class.

I have a relative in the medical assisting program and I am hoping he has better things to say than the review I just read. I must admit when I checked into the program I was told they partnered with Kaiser on their externships. Upon further investigation, it was explained that they DO NOT HAVE ANY kind of partnership/contract or agreement with Kaiser for the externship program, and that they "encourage" students to seek out their own externships. This is not good news. I am hoping all goes well and a good job comes out of this educational program. I too have heard from my relative that the teaching leaves a little to be desired. As far as knowing what to do work wise when the externship comes along, regardless of where a student goes they will have to be shown and told what to do. Walking into a working enviroment from a class room still requires hands on training. I'm just hoping the school provides the externship as agreed when the class was signed up for. So far my relative is doing very well in the class and feels he is learning.

i was so disappointed in the medical assistant program I took here. The teacher, was horrible at teaching! Granted she is probably an amazing nurse, teaching is something entirely different. The tests are made to confuse you! The teacher teaches you stuff that she knows first hand, which is all fine and dandy, Then the tests which are SENT from the text book company go by what is in the text book( again understandable) BUT its very confusing when answering the questions on the test because you cant remember which is the correct one, which one she taught you or what you read in the text book. I can guarantee the teacher is not even reading the text book chapters the night before like we are required to do. Its such a disappointment! The labs= A JOKE! I went to my extern ship knowing NOT A THING! IT was embarrassing as anything! I passed but I am actually thinking of re-taking this course somewhere else just for my own general knowledge. Also as well as the text books they require you to download and print almost a whole extra book from their website. AGAIN This would not be a big deal if the web page was not so confusing!
